Greetings!

Our God is indeed, an awesome God. Let us be thankful that He allows us, no, He desires for us to be intimate with Him through fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

And this week, let us continue to pray for each other, that the Lord may grant each of us wisdom on how to minister to those with whom we come in contact, at work, or as we go to the store, or as we interact with our family and with our friends.

Input and Participation

As we have mentioned in the past, Gospel Life Community Newsletter is a publication of, by, and for members, congregants and friends  of our church. As such we look for input, news and short article contributions, and feedback from our readers.

Your suggestions as to what you would like to see featured in our Newsletter, topics addressed, and other matters are welcome.

We also want you to encourage those in our e-mail circulation list to open their e-mails so they can stay informed and updated on church events and schedules.

If you have something in your small group fellowship or ministry department or personal experience that you wish to share with us, please do not hesitate to write, e-mail, or talk to us about publishing it here in our Newsletter.

Weekend Events

You have noted perhaps that this month's theme revolves around Strong Families. We had our Valentine weekend last week where we had a Marriage Enrichment Seminar and then a Valentine Dinner in one of the local restaurants.

This past weekend started off with the Deviant Generation's presentation of "Intimacy and Intimidation: What's love got to do with it" under the leadership of Pastor Hansel, Minister for Nurture, and Assistant Minister LJ.

The sermon topic yesterday by Pastor John, "Legacy of Love," touched again on parents passing on to their children a legacy of love through an empowering family culture, which in turn empowers their children to grow to Christian maturity.

A "Family Spiritual Growth Workshop" followed yesterday afternoon after the Fellowship Lunch

Next weekend, there will be a "Parenting Workshop" on Sunday, at 2:00 p.m., again in conjunction with this month's emphasis on Strong Families, which will continue on through the month of March.

Another Ministry Class on Soteriology will be held next Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Personal Items for the Homeless

There will be another opportunity to minister to the homeless in our community this coming Saturday.

Nancy Alano, who leads out in this noble ministry, states that personal items will be supplied for the homeless by our church. Please let her know if you can bring  items such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, personal cleaning and grooming products, face towels, etc.

This effort is conducted as a group of local area churches of which Gospel Life Community is in collaboration with.

One Call, Many Jobs

"LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance" (Ps 16:5-6).

Most of us will have many jobs over our lifetime. As I look back over my past, I've had quite a varied history of jobs that included being a waiter, retail clerk, golf pro, advertising sales executive, ad agency executive, and ad agency owner. Today, I am a writer and lead an international workplace ministry. All of these jobs were important because they gave me a level of experience from which I now express God's ministry. I am able to relate to those in the workplace because of my varied work experience throughout my career.

With each of our jobs, God is building something in us that will be used for His purposes now and in the future. Oswald Chambers says "In the beginning we do not train for God, we train for work, for our own aims; but as we go on with God we lose all our own aims and are trained into God's purpose. Unless practical work is appointed by God, it will prove a curse."

Jesus was prepared for His ultimate calling by working with His father in his carpentry shop until He was thirty years old. More than 54% of Jesus' teaching arose out of issues in daily life experience. Joseph was prepared to be head of a nation by serving prison time and being a slave in Potiphar's house. Moses was prepared to lead a nation out of slavery by serving in Pharoah's house and later working forty years as a shepherd.

Do not despise the small jobs-for they are stepping stones to a greater purpose in God's plan for your life and for God's preparation for your ultimate destiny. Some of these jobs are necessary for the message He is forming in you.

Pray that God accomplishes His intended outcome in you through the work you are doing today.

Oh God, How mighty are your works in all the earth! We want to thank you for the times you have made Your presence felt in a mighty way. Please, prick the hearts of mankind that we might seek you with all we are and that we might experience a mighty revival among believers and a great awakening among those who have yet to believe and accept you as their Lord and Savior.

We praise you, Lord, and want to bless you with our lives.  We love you. Amen.
