CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Why We Celebrate Christmas

To give and receive gifts? To have merriment and various parties and gatherings? To get off two or three weeks from school? No, these are not the reasons why we celebrate Christmas.

The reason for Christmas is to remember and be thankful for the incarnation of Jesus Christ.  His coming down to earth in the form of a human being made possible His self-sacrifice on our behalf when he died on the cross to redeem ALL humanity from their sins.  Those who believe and accept what He did for them are thus assured of salvation and eternal life!

Salvation by His grace is a free gift. There isn't anything we can say or do to deserve it.  All we can do is to humbly and gratefully accept it !

PRAISE THE LORD!

As Christmas Day approaches let us all pray that Jesus, the Prince of Peace, will become a powerful presence in our lives, that He will reveal Himself to believers and non-believers alike during this season, and that hearts will be open to His call.
May the selfless gift of love He gave us reflect in our relationship with others--our family members, neighbors, friends, coworkers, and even strangers.

His Presence

And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not (Mal 3:18).

"Good morning," I said to the woman behind the counter as she asked if she could take my order. "You're a Christian, aren't you?" "I can see Him in you!" I boldly proclaimed. "Yes, I am," she replied with a beaming smile. I could literally see the presence of God in her countenance in the way she related to me and others.

When Moses led the people out of Egypt he had several crisis moments during those forty years. His greatest crisis was when he came back from the mountain and discovered the people had made a golden calf. It was after this he came to a profound conclusion.

"Then Moses said to him, 'If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.' What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?" (Ex 33:15,16).

The difference between a Christian in the workplace and a non-believer should be that the Christian brings the presence of God with him to work. However, this is not always the case. A Christian can shut out the presence of God by his behavior. Like the Israelites who experienced great miracles in their lives but began to worship idols, we can move away from God. Sin separates us from God. His presence moves away from us. Moses realized, he too had to have the presence of God with him to lead such a people.

The prophet Malachi was saying a day is coming when you'll be able to recognize a clear difference between the righteous and the unrighteous. Would your co-workers be able to recognize a difference in you from others? Ask God to fill you with His overflowing presence in all you do today.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

The Christmas program held yesterday was simple but great!  There were participants from the children's and youth divisions.  The nativity skit was done by the preschoolers and the primary students.  The middle schoolers gave a video presentation depicting "Immanuel - God with Us," which was also the theme of the program.  The video was produced by Joey Miranda.

Beautiful solos were rendered by Julie de Vera and Sam Alano, the latter singing "O Holy Night!"  Short inspirational talks were given by Johnny Orzame and Eric Torres.

There were a good number of guests yesterday and a couple came by just to attend the services and they seemed to like what they saw and they even stayed for the fellowship lunch.

Let us continue to show our genuine hospitality and caring for those who come to our church.

"O Bethlehem of Judah, you are not just a lowly village in Judah, for a ruler will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel....When they (the wise men) saw the star, they were filled with joy...they fell down before him and worshiped him.  Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."   Matthew 2:6,10,11 (NLT)
