Greetings!

"Now there was a man named Simeon who lived in Jerusalem.  He was a righteous man and very devout.  He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he eagerly expected the Messiah to come and rescue Israel.  The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord's Messiah.  That day the Spirit led him to the Temple.  So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there.  He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, 'Lord, now I can die in peace! As you promised me, I have seen the Savior you have given to all people.  He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!' "  Luke 2: 25 - 32  (NLT)

The incarnation of Jesus Christ has to be the reason we celebrate Christmas. Through His birth and ministry on earth, His death and resurrection, we are assured of our eternal salvation as long as we believe in Him and we receive Him as our Lord and Savior.

CHURCH CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Please invite your family members, neighbors and friends to attend our church service this coming Sunday.  We will have a simple Christmas program in which the young people will take part.

We have had some more elaborate Christmas programs in the past, but this time it will be less so.  The spirit of Christmas will certainly be there and Christ our King will be the focus.

Remember our Global Outreach program as you share your blessings this season.

LETTER FROM PASTORS PROM AND NORMA

Make This Part of Your Gift List

The following letter came in via email to Ruth and Ernie Jordan:

"Dear Ruth & Ernie,

I am accepting your offer of helping me (again!) with my project "pasalubong". I plan to teach a sewing class in Palawan when we go back. Therefore, I will need sewing kits. I have 2 sewing machines there now and I hope to get another one soon after we get there. I will need sewing kits and this is where you can help me. Lorena Lacia from Davao was interested in learning how to sew and has asked me to teach them in Davao also. She was very excited about it and has asked me to give her a sewing kit as well. Therefore, I plan to give sewing kits as "pasalubong" for ALL of the wives of the pastors and leaders and also provide them to my "students" in Palawan. It would be great if you can get 20 ladies to help you so that I can bring 20 sewing kits. Or maybe more! What do you think?

I went to Wal-Mart the other day and bought a starter sewing kit for $7.34. It contains the following 10 Items:

1. Tracing Paper
2. Tracing Wheel
3. Tomato Pin Cushion
4. 60" Tape Measure
5. Seam Ripper
6. Hand Sewing Needles (assorted sizes)
7. Straight Pins
8. BentTrimmer or Scissors 7"
9. Marking Pencil

10. Sewing Gauge

It is funny but I am tempted to call this Sewing Kit "The Basic 10 Sewing Kit". Everything seems to work well when there are 10 things! I don't really need the exact sewing kit from Wal-Mart . I will be happy if the ladies can put the 10 items together (new or used).

Please let me know what you think and if this is possible for you and your ladies to do. It will also help if there are some ladies there who have extra spools of thread or scrap cloth materials lying around the house that they can donate.

I really appreciate your spirit of giving and your heart for the missions. The deadline would be January 25 because we plan to be in California by that time. We will ship balikbayan boxes that week and spend the weekend there and then fly to Manila on Feb 1 or 2 (depending on the available flights).

Love and best regards to you and Ernie.

Ate Norms"

Ruth Jordan's reply:

"O.K. Let's not disappoint Ate Norms. Let's do this for her.

I was able to find the sewing kit at Walmart for $7.47 plus tax, totaling $8.20 per kit. They only had 10 at the Azusa Walmart, so I went ahead and bought all 10. I will be happy to sell you one or two if you want or you can go ahead and buy your own.

I went on the internet beforegoing to Walmart in Azusa and the cheapest I could find, with all the items listed, was $14.97 plus tax, plus shipping. That's why I went ahead and bought what they had at Walmart. I didn't want anyone to pay double the price. I requested that they restock since we need more. But if not, if you don't have the time, I will be willing to go to other Walmarts to get the others.

I had suggested to Ate Norms that maybe each one donating can write a card to make the gift even more personal. It's up to you. I know these kits will be very much appreciated and it won't cost us that much. A win-win situation on both sides!

Ate Norms will be leaving January 25, 2011, but I would like to have this ready ASAP, so let me know if you want to donate and how many you want to donate.

 Thanks for your support.
Ruth "
