There are a number of church activities that are going to happen in the next several weeks. Please use this and future newsletters to refer to them and to their corresponding dates.
And if you have things happening in your small group fellowships, or in your church and/or personal ministries, let us know about them so we can publish them in our Newsletter.

| STRATEGY SESSION | |
 There will be another Strategy Session this coming Saturday, October 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall. This will be the fifth in the series of sessions designed to allow Gospel Life to meet the challenge of reaching out to Generation X.
Each one's input is important in generating a plan that includes the youth and the more mature generation of church members. Please mark your calendars

| ENCOUNTER |
 Another "Encounter" service is scheduled for this coming Friday, October 22, at the church, from 7 to 9 p.m.
"Encounter" is a more private, deeper experience in praise and worship. One may give or receive a word from God, prophesy over someone, give or receive spiritual impartation, encouragement or empowerment.
One simply has to be there to experience it. Come and bring a friend or a family member with you.

| ENLARGING SPHERE OF INFLUENCE |
 Think of the all-purpose greeting cards not as a fund raising tool but rather as something to increase people's knowledge of our existence!
Imagine that each person you send a card to takes notice of where the card came from as printed on the card's back cover and subsequently opens the church's website!
Not only are these greeting cards usable for any occasion, but more importantly they will help enlarge Gospel Life's sphere of influence to those who receive these cards from us.
Your family, friends and neighbors may relish the idea of making a donation for a good cause. Offer these cards to them for that opportunity. It will benefit our local and global missions (GOGL - Global Outreach of Gospel Life) and our youth projects as well.
There are those of us who are not part of a Small Group Fellowship and who have not received our share of these cards to either give away as gifts (there are 4 card varieties in each pack of 12 cards) or to receive donations for (suggested donation is $10 per pack). Please avail yourselves of these cards (suggest 15 to 20 packs per family) by either filling out an order form available at the church foyer, or by obtaining them from the display table at the rear of the sanctuary. These will be good to use for the coming holidays.

The Booster Rocket
"After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide: "Moses My servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them-to the Israelites." Joshua 1:1-2
A rocket launch is truly an amazing phenomenon to me. Tons of weight is stacked vertically to the sky with thousands of gallons of fuel exploding in a matter of moments. Soon the rocket drops its take-off boosters and uses additional boosters to move the rocket to the next stage of the mission. The first engines have a unique purpose...to get the rocket to the next stage. Joshua was known for almost 40 years as "Joshua, servant of Moses." God's preparation for him required years of selfless service, training in the desert, and tests of faith. Those preparation years were booster rockets designed to move Joshua into each new stage of his development and his ultimate calling. God allows each of us preparation times to lay a foundation that He plans to build on. Some of those foundation times appear to be laborious and meaningless, yet these varied experiences are what God is using to frame your life for the message He plans to speak through you. Without these foundational experiences, the Jordan River can never be crossed and we cannot enter the Promised Land. Embrace these times of seeming inactivity from God. They, too, are a rocket booster to your next stage of your walk with God. Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). (From TGIF Today God Is First, Vol.1, by Os Hillman) |
