Strategy Sessions Continue
Third Brainstorming Session This Coming Saturday

The third strategy session will be conducted this coming Saturday morning, September 25, at the Gospel Life Community Fellowship Hall, beginning at 9 a.m.

Two sessions previously held dealt with first, the definition of a Christ-centered life, and second, the kind of culture that will produce this type of lifestyle.

In the forthcoming session the topic will revolve around the kind of ministries and activities that will create and sustain this culture of a Christ-centered lifestyle, and also the context and environment in which these ministries and activities are going to take place.

There were more who attended the last session on September 11, and perhaps there will be more who will make it a point to attend these meetings. All are invited to come.

Renewal of Vows
Steve and Cindy pose with family members after the ceremony.
Steve and Cindy Bravo renewed their marriage vows yesterday, Sunday, immediately following the regular church service at Gospel Life. They have been married for 12 years and chose to renew their vows at this time.

Pastor John officiated in the "new covenant" wedding ceremony.  A good number of the couple's family members attended the celebration.

Los Angeles and Glendale Small Groups
Schedule Their Monthly Meeting

To be held on Last Saturday of Each Month

The Small Group Fellowships that meet in the Los Angeles and Glendale areas have decided to go forward with their monthly meeting which falls on the last Saturday of each month. This month it will be this coming Saturday, the 25th, at 1:00 p.m.

This upcoming meeting will be the third monthly meeting of the group.  The leaders realize that not everyone may be able to attend every monthly meeting, but to establish regularity and normalcy to the situation they decided that holding these monthly meetings needed to be continued even when a group of individuals  are unable to attend due to conflicts in their schedules.

By doing this, it is hoped that these meetings will help members of the different groups to know and remember that the last Saturday of each month is reserved for the combined meetings of these SGFs.

Members who reside in the area but who are not members of the LA/Glendale SGFs are encouraged to attend as well, and to invite their friends to this gathering.

The combined meetings are held at Medy and Irma Alcaraz's residence at 4762 Round Top Drive in Los Angeles.

CIC Monthly Meeting
Occurs Every Third Sunday

The Christians in Commerce group met yesterday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Tony Luciano spoke on the "seven mountains" in relation to how we are to bring our Christian ethic to our workplaces.

The so-called seven mountains he mentioned were Religion, Family, Media, Government, Arts and Entertainment, Education, and Business.

Tony emphasized our need to carry our Christian influence to our workplaces to influence others no matter which church a person comes from.

CIC is made up of Gospel Life members who are in business of any kind and their business friends whom they invite. The main thrust and purpose of this group is to help bring the Christian ethic to the workplace.

Greeting Cards Now Available
Each Family is Recommended to Get a Ten-Pack

The blank greeting cards featuring beautiful Philippine scenery is now available for distribution. It was previously recommended that each family be given at least a ten-pack set of these nicely packaged cards, each pack of which holds a dozen greeting cards.

This fund raising project for Gospel Life's missions was presented and approved during the last Core Group meeting.  Each pack will be given away for a donation of $10, which could be to friends, relatives, school mates, or they may be used as gift items for the coming holidays.

There are four different sceneries depicted in each pack of cards.  These may be used for any or all occasions.  They will be distributed among members of the small group fellowships, and to the general membership and friends of Gospel Life.

Control sheets and gift acknowledgement receipts are given to each individual  who will help distribute the card packs so that proper accounting of the number of card packs and cards as well as donations received for them is properly recorded.

"Asleep in the Graveyard"

Every second and fourth Sunday of the month a lecture series called "Tipping Points of Grace: Old Dogma Re-Examined" was presented by Pastor John regarding certain religious beliefs/doctrines which may not have biblical support.  The last of the series will be given this coming fourth Sunday, the 26th, at 2:00 p.m.

The topic is "Asleep in the Graveyard", a discussion on the state of the dead, and what the Bible says about it.

Gospel Life members are asked to invite their friends and family members who may want to know the biblical bases for our beliefs. All of these lectures will be available in CD form in the near future.
Marketplace Ministry

 Money Management

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" (Matt 7:12).

Have you ever heard the term, "Money talks?" This old cliché has some truth to it. How we handle money speaks very loudly about our values, especially among those in the marketplace.

One of the common business practices today is to extend payment on invoices to use that time to extend a company's cash flow. The bigger companies can often insist upon even longer times for payment. And because this practice is so prevalent it allows a business that honors their vendors with on-time payments to stand out from the crowd.

This delayed payment policy violates a basic biblical principle. "Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor" (Rom 13:6-7). One of your greatest opportunities to show you are different is in the practical matters of being faithful to your obligations.

True servant-hood is revealed when we have the best interest of others in mind. This means not always seeking to negotiate the lowest price for services, but the price that is fair and still honors the vendor for his service or product. "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Matt 7:2).

Use money to demonstrate your respect of others by paying others in a timely manner
