Greetings!
Days just pass us by so quickly it's hard to keep up. Imagine being through half a week almost without realizing it? But then, again, we're thankful for what's already past and knowing that we've been truly blessed in many different ways.
Let's always depend on God for what we are and what we have, and for the potential to be a blessing to others.

Friday, the 17th: Encounter!
The first "Encounter" program for Gospel Life Community will take place this coming Friday evening, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the sanctuary. Tessa Charles, who has been asked to lead out, says that those who plan to attend must come prepared to worship. "That means they are welcome to bring their words of knowledge, scripture, weaponry, dancing shoes, musical instruments, flags, art supplies, etc.," she says.
There will be a Healing Ministry. Pastor Hansel Orzame who oversees this program asks those Lion's Den graduates who are participating in the healing ministry/prophetic word to come earlier to prepare, by 6:30 pm.
Tessa further states: "I believe that Encounter is not meant to be natural or comfortable but to be INTENTIONAL and SACRIFICIAL and this is what I desire to be conveyed in the e-mail."
Encounter is open to all who are seeking (or even peeking into) the supernatural. As you may have heard it mentioned many times in the past, a Christian life must naturally be supernatural.
Pastors John and Jessie Tulio as lead ministers are primary supporters and facilitators for this upcoming event. |
Christians In Commerce
Monthly Meeting is on Sunday
The group of business people of Gospel Life who have banded themselves together into an initially small organization called Christians in Commerce will meet again on its monthly third Sunday of the month appointment at 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
As a group its main thrust is to bring the Christian ethic to the workplace or marketplace. The meeting is therefore open to all who are either employers, employees, independent entrepreneurs, self-employed or otherwise involved in the work force in some capacity or another.
Additionally, the meeting becomes a venue for networking among the different vocations represented in Gospel Life Community. You may invite friends who are also in business to this meeting. |
Baptism Scheduled for First Sunday in October
There will be baptisms scheduled on the First Sunday of October. Aside from those who have already expressed a desire for baptism, Pastor John would like to invite others who are contemplating baptism to make this desire known to him so that they can be included among those who are getting ready.
Baptism is a very public acknowledgment of one's belief and faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When he or she is raised from the baptismal water, that person becomes a new person in Christ, completely forgiven of all sins past, present and future because of Christ's completed work by His death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection. The believer then receives the indwelling Holy Spirit who leads, guides and directs, thus "passing from death unto life."

Greeters Rotation Starts Next Month Several Volunteers Will Help
A new list of church greeters will begin their scheduled rotation next month. They will practically be our guests' first encounter with one of our church members, so their role is most important.
The church greeters will be asked to be at the church foyer by 9:45 am and through approximately 11:15 am. They will also be asked to be at the foyer when the church service is over, to say a word of thanks or encouragement to members and guests who may be leaving immediately at the end of the morning services.
There will be a more concerted effort made to have the guests fill out the Guest Register. |
LA/Glendale Small Group Fellowships Monthly Combined Meeting on Last Saturday of the Month
The monthly combined meeting of the Los Angeles and Glendale Small Group Fellowships will be held next week, Saturday, September 25 beginning at 1:00 pm. This will be held at its usual venue, the residence of Medy and Irma Alcaraz.
Gospel Life members who live in the general area are also welcome to attend. The gathering starts with a fellowship lunch and then goes into the meeting itself. Generally the lunch and meeting take two hours of the afternoon and leaves ample time to do other errands afterwards.
These SGFs are led by Ademir and Kay Pasco, Fred and Nita Alejandro, and Medy and Irma Alcaraz. |

And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them. Matthew 18:19-20 (TEV)
|
"If you've never prayed with other people, start by praying aloud when you're alone." |
Many of us miss out on so much because we only pray by ourselves. Yet, when Jesus gave us an outline for prayer, he spoke about praying together. There is power in group prayer.
If you're not praying with other believers, then you're not getting the support you need. You're missing out on one of the major benefits of being a Christian. Jesus says "whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them (Matthew 18:19-20 TEV). That's the power of praying with other people.
Ask yourself, "Who am I consistently praying with on a regular basis?" You may be saying you've never prayed with anybody before and it scares you to death. It's okay to start slow: When you get together with five or six other friends, you don't have to pray if you don't want to; you can sit there and be quiet. Then, after several weeks, as you become more comfortable, you can begin to participate more in the group's prayers. You'll find a new level of stability in your life.
If you've never prayed with other people, start by praying aloud when you're alone. I do most of my praying, more than any other place, on the freeway. I'm driving down the road and talking aloud to the Lord, "Lord, here are some things I want to talk with you about today."
Another suggestion is to pray at meals. Our family holds hands; sometimes we pray sentence prayers such as thank you prayers to God for what he has done for us. | (From Rick Warren: connect@newsletter.purposedriven.com. Gospel Life Community is not an affiliate of the Purpose Driven organization.)

Our God delights in each of us becoming a person who is "well-rounded" in all aspects of life. However, we must get beyond the notion that He is interested only in making us healthy, wealthy, happy and wise. More importantly, He wants us to be like Christ. This we can claim at the moment we accept Christ as our personal Savior and Lord, when we put on Christ's robe of righteousness by faith, and God sees us only through Him who offered the supreme sacrifice for our sake.
The Lord's peace, grace and blessings be with you till next time.
Sincerely,
Conrad J Miranda Gospel Life Community
