Monday Edition
Greetings!

How was your weekend?  Are you physically reinvigorated, mentally restrengthened and spiritually refreshed?

Our prayer is that it is so with all of us and that our days going forward are loaded with blessings and fortified with experiences that can only make us stronger in our daily Christian walk.

Christians In Commerce Will Meet Next Sunday

The monthly meeting of the business people in church will take place this coming Sunday, the third Sunday, September 19 at 1:45 p.m.

This designated Sunday meeting is open to Gospel Life Community members who are involved in the business world one way or another, and to their business friends as well.

It is a time to share and discuss business experiences and "how to" bring the Christian ethic into the marketplace.  Generally a member of CIC or a guest speaker is invited to speak about their business and/or give insight as to what makes them or their business tick.

The meeting will start as soon as the fellowship lunch is over.

View Everything We Do As Spiritual
 Affirming New Leadership

"But Moses replied, 'Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!'"
(Num 11:29).

One of the attributes of a Kingdom leader is to recognize when God is raising new leadership and be a catalyst to affirm and encourage it. These leaders also model a level of humility that God blesses. Leaders who are insecure about their leadership will put down new leadership in order to maintain their own status.

The Bible says that Moses was the most humble man on the face of the earth. That is why God used him as a leader to bring an entire nation out of bondage.

Joshua was concerned that two young men prophesied in the camp and considered this an affront to Moses' leadership. Moses viewed the same situation very differently. He viewed it from an eye of a Kingdom leader who modeled humility and a Kingdom focus. Moses was secure in his own leadership and so he did not need to put down others who he could construe as usurping his leadership.

King Saul represented the opposite of this principle with David. The people began to see God raising David into leadership. However, because Saul had a stronghold of insecurity in his life, he was not able to affirm God's new leader. This ultimately led to Saul's removal. God rejected Saul because of this.

The Body of Christ is in great need of leaders who are secure in their leadership. If God has called you to be a leader, look for opportunities to encourage new leaders. As you do, God will insure that you will fulfill the purpose for which He called you.

Strategic Planning

Better Attendance this time

There was a good turnout this past Saturday morning when the strategic planning group met at the fellowship hall.  As previously detailed, Gospel Life is readjusting its planning so as to bring greater attention to reaching the so-called Generation X (those who are approaching the ages of 30-50).

This second meeting was again a brainstorming session to determine what types of activities and attributes can bring about a Christ-centered lifestyle.  The first session held two weeks previously was mainly to define what a Christ-centered lifestyle is.

Everyone is encouraged to attend these sessions.  The next one is scheduled two weeks away on  Saturday, September 25, at 9 a.m.
Family Festival Soon Upon Us
Participating groups need to hasten preparations

The Walnut Family Festival is barely four weeks away. Gospel Life's healthcare group will sponsor another Free Diabetic and Blood Pressure screening clinic during the festival, which is scheduled for October 9.

The Youth group is also planning to participate with  youth oriented
activities.  The Prayer Ministry will be an active part of that day's events.  There will be health brochures available during the festival.

We are calling on our volunteers for the free clinic, the youth and prayer ministries and those who will help set up and take down our tent/booth to please let us know if they are able to contribute the manpower for these different areas of activity.  There will be sign-up sheets at the church foyer.

Dr. Honesto Pascual has volunteered to be a supervising physician for our free clinic.
Also Coming Up:

Combined Meeting of the LA and Glendale Small Group Fellowships
Last Saturday of the Month, the 25th, at Medy and Irma Alcaraz's home, 1:00 pm

Reminder:  The Fellowship Lunch coordinating groups are now on rotation every
3 weeks.  Please check the schedule at the Fellowship Hall bulletin board..

P.S.
The widely publicized Quran-burning on September 11 by the pastor of a small church in Gainesville, Florida did not materialize, thanks to your prayers and by others round the world.  That pastor said that God had told him not to proceed.

Prayer changes things.
