God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation. Hebrews 2:10 (NLT)
|
"The entire Bible is the story of God building a family who will love him, honor him, and reign with him forever." |
Because God is love, he treasures relationships. His very nature is relational and he identifies himself in family terms: Father, Son, and Spirit. The Trinity is God's relationship to himself. It's the perfect pattern for relational harmony and we should study its implications.
God already exists in loving relationship to himself so he's never been lonely. He didn't need a family - he desired one, so he devised a plan to create us, bring us into his family, and share with us all he has.
God wants a family, and he created you to be a part of it. This is one of God's purposes for your life, which he planned before you were born. The entire Bible is the story of God building a family who will love him, honor him, and reign with him forever. "His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure" (Ephesians 1:5 NLT). | |
| STRATEGY SESSIONS
First Meeting Held on Saturday
The first in a series of meetings designed to plan the future course of Gospel Life Community was held on Saturday, August 28, from 9:00 a.m. till 11:30 a.m., at the Fellowship Hall.
The meetings, called Strategy Sessions, will continue to be held biweekly and both the youth and adult leaderships as well as church members are invited to participate.
Discussion in the last session centered around defining the church's "end-goal" which is the Christ-centered lifestyle.
Future meetings will get into the kind of culture that will produce a Christ-centered lifestyle, the kind of ministries and activities that will create this culture, and the context and environment in which these are going to take place.
There will be sessions devoted to discussing the structure, personnel and resources required, as well as establishing parameters to evaluate the effectiveness and productiveness of programs when implemented.
Other aspects of strategy planning will take place as well. As many as are able to attend are encouraged to do so for more and greater input into the shaping of what Gospel Life will be doing in the future. |
COMBINED SGF MEETING
The once monthly meeting of the Los Angeles and Glendale area Small Group Fellowships (SGFs) was held this past Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Medy and Irma Alcaraz's residence.
The meeting started off with a fellowship lunch after which discussion eventually turned to how we can ensure a larger and more certain attendance from members of the SGFs.
Every last Saturday afternoon of the month is tagged as the combined meeting day for the SGFs in the Los Angeles and Glendale areas. Gospel Life members and friends who live in the area are also invited. Lead ministers John and Jessie Tulio, as well as Tito and Vonnie Cabrera attended last Saturday's meeting as well.
The LA/Glendale SGFs are led by Fred and Nita Alejandro, Ademir and Kay Pasco, and Medy and Irma Alcaraz.
A Basic 10 "Keys to the Kingdom" study was recently started at the Pasco group. Pastor John Tulio is leading out in this study. |
FIRST SUNDAY
Participants need to tell Pastor Hansel
Next Sunday is September 5, the First Sunday! As of today, there is only one name listed on the sign-up sheet. Those who plan to share their testimony, or perform in front of the congregation, or otherwise do something creative, please let Pastor Hansel know at 626-487-1549.
Pastor Hansel wants to remind us also that he may not be reached on Saturday, September 4, as he will be up north attending a wedding, so please get in touch with him earlier this week if you are planning to do something in church next Sunday.
As is customary at Gospel Life, First Sundays are when members and guests can share their talents and abilities with the congregants and relate experiences and uplifting testimony as well. |
CORE GROUP MEETING
TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY A Core Group meeting is scheduled for this coming Sunday, the 5th of September, after the fellowship lunch.
WHO IS THE CORE GROUP? The Core Group is also known as the Church Council. It is the church body entrusted with reviewing and approving the mission and strategic plan of the church, the leadership structure, the annual budget and financial reports, purchases, membership applications and discipline, the lead elder and leadership board.
It is composed of the elders, coordinators, managers and members actively involved in various ministries of the church including the small group fellowships. Our Youth Leaders are certainly part of this church council.
Sometimes these meetings are not so well attended perhaps because people forget or they are not sure exactly who make up the Core Group. You may now consider yourselves adequately informed but we will remind you again on Friday or Saturday. |
NEW ASSIGNMENT
LION'S DEN GRADS JOIN PRAYER TEAM Recent graduates of the Lion's Den School of the Supernatural are now part of the Prayer Team of Gospel Life. Each one is identified with an ID tag and they will assist in ministering to the prayer needs of the congregants. The usual practice has been that after the Good News Hour the prayer team members stand along the front of the raised stage and whoever requests for prayer for whatever reason goes up to them.
Prayers for healing, deliverance, impartation and encouragement as well as words of comfort or cheer or of any other import from the Lord are considered part of the gifting of these prayer warriors among us. |
WHERE TO FIND SGFs
Meeting Places
Everyone should be attending a small group fellowship (SGF) at least once a week. It is a means of nurturing our spirits, feeling renewed and refurbished. It helps to reinforce the "highs" we experience in church on Sundays.
Does one physically starve when deprived of food? Yes, of course. We also starve spiritually if we are not spiritually replenished during the week.
We have several SGFs meeting during the week. Below is a list.
Mondays: Tony Luciano at the Modular Building - 909-468-1406
Eric and Joyce Torres - 626-373-7449
