Chamber director tells lawmakers changes needed in
statute of limitations law
Suzanne Northern-Blazar, a Chamber director and general
manager of Owensboro's Unifirst plant, testified last
Friday before the legislature's Interim Joint Judiciary
Committee about an issue first championed by the Greater
Owensboro Chamber three years ago. Current Kentucky
law allows employees up to five years after cessation of
employment to bring a wrongful termination or
discrimination lawsuit. Limitations in most states are three
years or less. Northern-Blazar talked about how the
five-year limit can place undue burden on employers. A
bill
about the issue is expected to be introduced in the 2010
General Assembly.

What do Chamber members think?
Chamber members expressed their
thoughts and ideas on a variety of topics in the annual
Legislative and Local Issues Survey this fall.
Twenty-three percent of Chamber members
responded.
Between November 9th and December 17th, the Chamber
will release the answers to these questions. The
Chamber's Advocacy Task Force crafts the 2010
Legislative Policy Positions based in part on survey
responses.

responses to two of the survey questions.
