Rooster Booster Thursday to feature Ken McDonald, WKU basketball coach
Ken McDonald, Western Kentucky University head men's
basketball coach, is the guest speaker at Thursday's
Rooster Booster Breakfast. It gets underway at 7:30 a.m.
at Owensboro Christian Church.
In McDonald's first season on the Hill last year, WKU
posted a 25-win season, captured the Sun Belt
Conference East Division Championship and knocked off
Big Ten power Illinois in the first round of the NCAA
tournament.
WKU is this month's breakfast sponsor. Reservations are
required and should be made online here or by calling the Chamber at
926-1860 by noon Wednesday. The $10 fee includes a
buffet breakfast.

Business keeping eye on Washington D.C.
Healthcare reform
continues to dominate most discussion in Washington. The
idea of a public insurance option is drawing the most
debate.
Cap and trade
legislation that would likely lead to
increased electric rates for states like Kentucky that
heavily rely on coal-fired power plants was debated last
week in the Senate after passing the House earlier this
year. The recent Chamber member survey showed 63%
of members oppose cap and trade, 24% are unsure of the
impact it would have on their business and 10% support
it.
