new carDid You Know...?
Although your car dealer might call us to confirm your insurance coverage, they cannot add a vehicle to your policy.  If you bought or sold a car it is your responsibility to contact us in order to get a car added or taken off your insurance.  Please be assured:  To protect your privacy we will never give any information about you or your insurance policy to third parties without your consent.  We will always call you first before confirming any information.
police report It's In the Report...
You have an auto accident and the police show up.  You feel relieved as you believe the police now will take care of everything for you.  The police officer asks you for your information, (name, address, phone number, insurance company and policy number).  He also asks the other driver involved in the accident the same information.  When you ask the officer about the other party's information, he responds, "It will be in the report."  You leave it at that and call us to report the claim.  What the officer didn't tell you was they have up to 30 days to complete a report and they also charge us $15 to get a copy of the report.  Not being able to get the other driver's information not only frustrates us, but it will also slow down your claims process, causing it to take longer for you to get your vehicle fixed.  We are urging all of our insureds, if you are involved in an auto accident, get the other party's information from the police officer even if he tells you it will be in the report.  We ask that you at least get their name, phone number and insurance company and policy number.  This will make the claim go much more smoothly for you and us.
rental car Rent A Car?  Buy The Insurance!
If you rent a vehicle for your summer vacation or while visiting relatives during the holidays, you might be wondering whether you should purchase the insurance from the rental company.  After all you have auto insurance, which extends to your rental vehicle.  But, because the contract is written by the rental company, there can be hidden charges!  We recommend you buy the Loss Damage Waiver from your Rental Company!  Here are the most important reasons for doing so:
Loss valuation:  The rental agreement may very well contractually obligate you to reimburse the rental company for "full value" of the vehicle.  But an auto policy covers only the amount "necessary" to repair or replace the damaged property.
Loss Payment:  The rental company may require immediate reimbursement for damages, and it is a customary practice for the rental company to charge your credit card.  This could "max out" your credit card- just when you need it for vacation.
gas rig Have You Leased Your Land For Gas Drilling?
Natural gas drilling is a big business in our part of the state.  Make sure if you are thinking about or have leased your land for gas drilling that you contact us regarding the insurance implications.  A home insurance policy will have exclusions for business type property and liability.  A commercial general liability policy will be needed to ensure you are properly covered.
gavel Employment Practices Liability Insurance For Small Businesses
Employment Practices Liability (EPL) insurance protects an employer from employee's claims alleging discrimination, wrongful termination or harassment, including sexual harassment.  EPL insurance pays for damages and defense costs due to these charges brought by full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees.   Even groundless employment charges may require legal defense, and defense costs can be significant.  Insureds need EPL coverage to have those defense costs covered and to get access to attorneys experienced in defending employers from employment-related charges.  For eligible classes with fewer than 50 employees rates start at $26 per employee for a$25,000 limit of liability.

The Seven Benefits of Life Insurance

Life insurance can serve as the foundation of your family's financial security. According to the nonprofit LIFE Foundation, life insurance can:

  1. Buy time - Allows loved ones to focus on their grief by helping to pay for the funeral and other final expenses.
  2. Provide a fresh start - Lets loved ones start with a clean slate by helping to pay off credit card bills, outstanding loans and even the mortgage.
  3. Generate income - Helps replace lost income for years to come so that surviving family members can continue to pay for life's necessities.
  4. Offer flexibility - Gives a surviving spouse the chance to take time off from work or to switch to a job that offers a more flexible work schedule.
  5. Create opportunities - Can provide funding to start a business, or pay for schooling so surviving family members can train for a new career.
  6. Fund the future - Offers a way to fund longer-range goals, like a college education for the kids or a secure retirement for a surviving spouse.
  7. Leave a legacy - Gives parents the chance to leave future generations with the legacy of long-term financial security. Watch the related video. A Legacy of Love
