Open WWRL Board Positions

Red Lodge is a living organism.  With deep roots in Woman's Way Long Dance, the branches of this lively being now reach out to enliven the sacred feminine in many Puget Sound communities.  Inquiries about starting Red Lodge programs are coming in from as far away as Flagstaff, Astoria, and New York!

Diversity in our leadership will support a diverse membership to flourish.  Is the time growing ripe for you or someone you know to join the board? Are you inspired to make a difference in the lives of women, men and families being drawn to Red Lodge events and programs in our communities?

The following eight positions are open, calling for inspired women
to come grow with us!

Being Side-Bys, by Connor Sauer

path through autumnDear Friends and Members of Red Lodge,

Someone I know who listens as deeply as an old growth forest and tends her visions from the heart, our current Chair Mary G.L. Shackelford will be stepping off the Board in 2010 and continuing her service next year on Program Council.  Oh dear! She says maybe she'd like to continue as editor of the Hearth Letter, too - let's hope!

Debbie Fank is stepping back from Program Council Chair to care for her beloved partner, and hopes to return to the Board in right timing.  Pam Tillson will be stepping out from Elder Council Chair and wants to write more for Communications Council.  Christiann Howard, now growing two businesses of her own, is letting go of the Conflict Evolution Council Chair as gracefully as she has filled it. Full tributes to these wonderful women will be forthcoming in a future newsletter.

Four dedicated side-bys will continue with me on next year's Board, bringing wisdom, humor, intuition, questions, determination and immeasurable esprit du corps:

Pending ByLaws Revisions, October 11th, 2009

To update sections of WWRL ByLaws which apply to leadership transition, the Board is proposing four ByLaws revisions.  In brief, if adopted, these revisions would:
  1. Allow for job partnering in Abundance, Communication and Program Council Chair roles
  2. Redefine and describe who is eligible to serve on the Board
  3. Simplify ByLaws description of the WWRL election process, moving details (describing the process when 2 or more are interested in a position) to the WWRL Leadership Document
  4. Lengthen the maximum possible number of years in a Board role from three years to a four year cycle, allowing any Board member, if she chooses, to walk the medicine wheel in any position (Please note: every Board member commits to serve for only one year, with the option to renew that commitment each year, up to the maximum term).
In accordance with our ByLaws, the Board has been given 30 days notice to review these proposals and will call for a Heart Agreement on the revisions at the next Board conference call on Sunday, October 11, 6:30-9 PM.  To read the full details of proposed revisions, send your input, or be present on the conference call meeting, contact Chair@wwrl.org
