Tapestry Theater Experience: Coming This Summer
TAPESTRY THEATER (formerly the Penguin Project) will begin programming starting this summer and continuing into the fall.
This program will create a theater experience that utilizes the talents of youth ages 10-18 with and without disabilities. TAU announces a summer of fun, friendship building, and learning, culminating in a fall production of "Annie Jr." in mid-October. Music and lyrics by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, and book by Thomas Meehan.
This new program is being directed by Elizabeth Goodrich and Lynne Niston as a collaborative project between Center Stage Theatre Company and The Art Underground.
Youth with disabilities will be the primary actors and they will be paired with other youth who will be their mentors and the ensemble actors in the production.
Our goal is to create an opportunity to experience theater in an environment that is safe, welcoming, adaptable and is inclusive. The desire to create, include and grow is the common thread that runs through theTapestry Theatre Experience.
Actors will meet two evenings a week starting in June and will progress to three evening rehearsals (1 1/2 hours each) a week. There is flexibility to accommodate summer vacations. The cost is minimal, at $100 and the entire professional production experience is included (i.e. costumes, professional sets, auditorium with professional sound and lights).
Join us for a life changing experience. Email info@artunder.org if you are interested in signing up as either a primary or ensemble actor, or for more information.
