Guidance on Overhauling Government Contracting to Be Issued

The Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is scheduled this month to issue government-wide guidance for reviewing existing and new government contracts. The rules are part of an effort by President Barack Obama to save the federal government up to $40 billion a year and to fix what Obama has called "our broken system of government contracting."

The new contracting rules would identify and potentially cancel or modify contracts that are deemed "wasteful, inefficient, or not otherwise likely to meet the agency's needs." Please click here to read Obama's memo directing this overhaul.
Recovery Act Online Recipient Reporting Postponed to October 10, 2009

The federal government has extended until October 10, 2009, the initial deadline for all federal government contractors submitting reports outlining their use of Recovery Act (Act) funds. The reporting is required for all work funded, in part or in whole, by the Act on a quarterly basis, due 10 days after the end of each quarter. All federal contractors must maintain the data as required by FAR 52.204-11.

Contractors were originally scheduled to report this information by July 10. Click here for more information and the federal government's online reporting tool.
