Habitat for Humanity NCR
Build Season Update
Building homes... building hope... building a community

Habitat NCR will build an Energy Star Women Build home at 386 Tillbury Avenue this summer! We are happy to announce that Madeleine Chartrand has been hired as the Project Manager for this build, and Chris Helmer is returning as our Site Supervisor.

Construction of the home and volunteers will begin working on the site in June.  We expect the build to go from June until the end of August.

Scheduling volunteers is underway and there are still some spaces available! Volunteering on a build with Habitat allows you to use your skills to help a good cause. If you would like to volunteer, please visit the Volunteer Opportunities  page of Habitat's website and download the Volunteer Application Form - Women Build - Tillbury. Only sign up for the days that are not marked "FULL" and please make sure that you are available from 7:00am to 4:30pm plus clean up. Please return the completed form by May 18th via

Habitat for Humanity Canada wins an Urban Leadership Award

We are very pleased to announce that Habitat for Humanity was recently selected by the Canadian Urban Institute as a winner of its  2008 Urban Leadership Award in the City Renewal category.

The Urban Leadership Awards program celebrates individuals, groups and organizations that have made a profound and lasting impact on the public realm. The 'City Renewal Category' recognizes activities that renew, revitalize and restore our cities through advocacy that shapes policy on urban issues - promoting attitudinal change, encouraging public participation and transforming our urban landscape for future generations.

This award is truly shared by all affiliates across the country.  In recognition of the significant contribution that Habitat is making to the public realm in many Canadian cities, the Canadian Urban Institute felt strongly that this award should recognize the entire Habitat movement in Canada. The Institute considered, and was particularly impressed with, how Habitat for Humanity engages a significant number of public volunteers in the delivery of our mission.
