Greetings!
For years, All Saints Church and dedicated All Saints volunteers have partnered with Teach My People, a local ministry, to serve the needs of at risk children in our community. Through this outreach, children and youth of our area are effectively supported in their studies and experience many enrichment opportunities in a safe and loving environment. Eric Spatz, Executive Director of TMP, sent the following update at the conclusion of their eight-week summer program which served 72 students:
"During the summer we focused an hour a day on math and reading, participated in many art and science projects, attended local vacation Bible schools, learned respect through boxing, played tennis at Litchfield Country Club, and swam in Teach My People's amazing swimming pool every afternoon. This program was not just fun for our students... it was needed! The average student loses 30% during the summer of what they learned the previous year at school. With our focus on academics, our students are able to stay current and sometimes ahead of the peers."
TMP students also participated in daily swimming lessons and were served breakfast and lunch. De'Quan (11th Grade), one of seventeen students who were able to go away for a week of summer camp through the generosity of TMP supporters, had this to say about his time at a camp in Etowah, TN:
"My experience at Camp Living Stones was amazing. It was something I will never forget. A place where kids can come together from other states and countries and worship God. I made a lot of new friends and experienced a lot of new things and faced a lot of fears. My favorite was the climbing tower. I learned that you have to just take a leap of faith and believe in God and that he won't let you fall."
If you haven't found a place in the community to express your faith through action, Teach My People is a good place to start. Volunteers are needed in the classroom setting, one-on-one tutoring, cooking, serving dinner and in the office. According to Courtney Dunsmore, Volunteer Coordinator, "any passion or skillset...can be a valuable investment into the lives of our students and programs." If you would like to learn more, visit teachmypeople.com or plan to attend the Volunteer Orientation on August 24 from 9:00-11:00 AM at 753 Waverly Road.
"Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do." (James 2:18 NIV) |

Cleaning out your closets? Let us help!
Recognizing our community's need and the joy associated with the used clothing previously made available through Give a Kid a Chance, All Saints is continuing this clothing outreach as a fixed ministry on our campus. With details still unfolding, we are now collecting gently used adult and children's clothing (no purses or shoes please). A marked collection bin is in the ACTS Building. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare the clothing. Please call or email Andrea Young (650-7291) for details or to volunteer. |
