Greetings!
This summer we took time to slow down some of our activities at All Saints and enter a season of abiding in Christ (John 15:1-5). It is not that we were totally inactive. Mission trips, Vacation Bible School, Beach days, Date Nights, Dynamic Prayer and Praise and more dotted the calendar from June to August. But our desire was to seize the summer months and spend intentional time in God's presence so that we could hear His heart for the next season of life together at All Saints. I have asked many of our members what they have heard during this abiding season. While there have been unique responses, most of them have followed a similar theme. Mission.... God's call on us to step out from our comfortable places and reach out to the world around us. He is challenging us to move from being service attenders to serious disciples, from being a consumer church to a missional church. Now it is time to act on what we have heard. In mid-September we will begin a Sunday series on the missional church. In addition, we have invited Reggie McNeil, an engaging teacher to lead a weekend conference for us at the end of October on the subject of being a missional church. But more importantly, we will all be hearing challenge and encouragement to take another look at our environments and relationships so that we can seize the God-given opportunities to share Christ's love with those around us. Matthew records Jesus' final instructions to His Church before He ascended to the Father. "Go therefore and make disciples
of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20) God is calling us all to a renewed commitment to respond wholeheartedly to this great commission. See you Sunday.
