Karyn Kowal
The winner of the DO MORE Photo Contest is Karyn Kowal. Here's why we chose her as the winner:

"This picture was taken in Hawaii during the Human powered racing training camp coached by Mike Neill. We had a great camp, lots of fun and hard work. The day after day of long bikes and long runs and swims were made possible for me with the use of 7SYSTEMS. My recovery was quick and the whole 10 days went by with no aches or pains. When you are doing this kind of activity at the age of 55 you realize the importance of good nutrition, superior supplements and fast recovery. I thank you for coming up with such a great product that is so easy to use. No guesswork, it's all there in one package per day."
Since the Hawaii training camp, Karyn has raced the Oceanside California Ironman 70.3 and won her age group and qualified for Ironman Hawaii! She has another Ironman race coming up June 22nd. In preparation, her Human powered racing team, led by Mike Neill, just had an epic bike this past weekend doing 180 km of riding both Saturday and Sunday with a mountain pass on each day. She got through it with relative ease and no sore muscles to contend with on Monday. Prior to using 7SYSTEMS her body was not responding this well to training. "The difference is amazing." she says, and continues "I'm looking forward to a great year of training and racing and hope that along the way I am able to inspire other women, of any age, to get out there and get moving."
Just in case you were wondering, we do not pay our profiled athletes to use 7SYSTEMS- they all use it because it works for them! |

Health Tip- Glucosamine and MSM |
|
What It Is- Glucosamine is a naturally occurring amino sugar found in glycosoaminoglycans, integral components in joint cartilage. MSMŪ (methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring compound of biologically available sulfur, an indispensable element in human nutrition.
What it Supports- Glucosamine is an amino sugar found in joint cartilage. MSM helps maintain healthy connective tissue metabolism among other things.
How It Works- Glucosamine is absorbed intact and utilized very quickly by all tissues, including connective tissues such as such as cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Glucosamine sulfate is more efficiently used for connective tissue metabolism than other glucosamine sources, such as cartilage extracts or chondroitin sulfate. Dietary MSM serves as a versatile donor of metabolically active sulfur for the synthesis of numerous organosulfur compounds and proteins in the body. Sulfur is required for the structural integrity and function of almost every protein in the body, as well as the glycosaminoglycans of cartilage and other connective tissue.
Whole Food Sources-
MSM occurs naturally in a variety of foods, such as fruits, vegetables, cereal grains, milk, and fish. However, MSM is volatile and easily lost during cooking.

| Coach's Corner- Flexibility |
Base, threshold and interval sessions are key elements of any training program in any endurance sport, but there are several other components that are often overlooked by athletes.
One of these overlooked components is flexibility training. You may not think of flexibility as important as the rest of the training associated with endurance sport, but it can play a big role in your performance. Not only will tight muscles limit your range of motion, but they can also lead to injuries that will stop your training altogether.
You should try to include some sort of flexibility training session at the end of every workout while your muscles are still warm. You may not see immediate visible results such as increased range of motion, but you will definitely feel it in the your workouts whether in the pool, on the bike, or on the run. If you find it hard to get motivated to do flexibility sessions, try doing it with friends, while watching TV or a spefific stretching video, or by joining formal sessions often offered by sports clubs and yoga studios.
