Andrea Perego
"I began taking 7SYSTEMS when I was determined to make the most of my recovery time between two Ironman races and I have been taking them ever since. I am not the fastest or the fittest triathlete out there, and despite my coach's best efforts, I don't always do my workouts the way I am supposed to. I have been known to stack hard workout on top of hard workout and fill my days off with things like squash or just running around trying to get a thousand things done at once. Despite all that, I still recover quickly and am ready for the next workout. And I just don't get sick. Thanks for making a great product that is so easy to use. I am a believer."
Gordon Henderson
"I've often found it difficult to get the balance right between 'fitness' and 'health': training for and racing endurance events, parenting a young child and stress from unpredictable work often left me feeling run down - even while I was fit enough to race well. Although I thought that supplements would probably help with some of these problems, I was confused by the range of products on the market and concerned about using something with uncertain efficacy whose composition I didn't understand. 7SYSTEMS addressed each of those issues: it contains everything I need and nothing I don't, and since starting to use it, I've felt healthier than at any point in the recent past. I'm better able to juggle work, training and parenting, and have more energy and mental focus; I've found that 7SYSTEMS does exactly what it claims to do."
Andrea and Gordon are both accomplished age-groupers who juggle training with their busy jobs on Bay Street in Torono. They are long time users of 7SYSTEMS.
Just in case you were wondering, we do not pay our profiled athletes to use 7SYSTEMS- they all use it because it works for them! |

Health Tip- B-Complex nutrients assist chemical reactions |
What It Is- The B vitamins are eight water-soluble vitamins that play important roles in cell metabolism. Historically, the B vitamins were once thought to be a single vitamin, referred to as vitamin B (much like how people refer to vitamin C or vitamin D). In recent years research showed that they are chemically distinct vitamins that often coexist in the same foods. Supplements containing all eight B vitamins are generally referred to as a vitamin B complex. 7SYSTEMS has all of them!
Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin)
Vitamin B3,(niacin, includes nicotinic acid and nicotinamide)
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid)
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)
Vitamin B7, also called vitamin H (biotin)
Vitamin B9, also vitamin M and vitamin B-c (folic acid)
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin)
What it Supports- The B vitamins often work together to deliver a number of health benefits to the body. B vitamins have been shown to:
-
Support and increase the rate of metabolism
-
Maintain healthy skin and muscle tone
-
Enhance immune and nervous system function
-
Promote cell growth and division - including that of the red blood cells that help prevent anemia.
-
Reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer,
Together, they also help combat the symptoms and causes of stress, depression, and cardiovascular disease.
How It Works- Most of the B-vitamins play a critical role as cofactors in cellular energy metabolism. Cofactors can be thought of as "helper nutrients" that assist chemical reactions. For example, the process of glycolysis, which converts energy stored as glycogen into glucose molecules, requires vitamin B6 and biotin. Lack of any of the B vitamins can cause fatigue and lethargy - which is why B-complex supplements are often promoted as "energy boosters" and "stress formulas.[1] Most of the B vitamins must be replenished daily, since any excess is excreted in the urine.[2]
Whole Food Sources- Vitamin B comes from a number of natural sources, including potatoes, bananas, lentils, chilli peppers, liver oil, liver, turkey, and tuna. Nutritional yeast (or brewer's yeast) and molasses are especially good sources of Vitamin B. Marmite and the iconic Australian spread Vegemite bills itself as "one of the world's richest known sources of vitamin B". As might be expected, due to its high content of brewer's yeast, beer is a good source of B vitamins. [3]

| Coach's Corner- Overload and Recovery Principle |
All forms of physical training are based on your body's ability to adapt to stress. To gain positive training effects, you must overload a muscle group or energy system. The training overload will cause these muscles to grow stronger, or the targeted energy systems to become more efficient. As you adapt, the training intensity and volume must progressively increase. If the training load does not increase as you adapt, your fitness will reach a conditioning plateau.
You should always increase training intensities and volume in small amounts to avoid overtraining or injury. You must recover from your training. Recovery is extremely important, and an integral component in the training process. It is during the recovery period, not the training period, that your body adapts -- that is, grows stronger, faster, and more powerful. No recovery--no gains! The proper amount of training intensity, volume and recovery is critical, as overtraining can result from any imbalance among these three factors.
Below is a table showing a general guideline for recovery for working out in a specific sport following specific amounts of time at a given intensity in that sport. Remember that these are only guidelines. Recovery from training differs by individual:
Volume of Intensity Suggested Time Needed For Recovery
0-6 hours at aerobic endurance intensity 8 hours
30-60minutes at tempo intensity 8-10 hours
75-120 minutes at tempo intensity 24 to 36 hours
15-45 minutes at lactate threshold 24 hours
60-90 minutes at lactate threshold 24-36 hours
10-30 minutes above lactate threshold 24-36 hours
45 minutes or more above lactate threshold 36-48 hours
