In today's economic and political environment, the small to mid-sized arts organization faces unique challenges around funding and arts advocacy. The greatest tool a board can have in overcoming those challenges is successful governance. But if you're not sure of the governance work of the board, how can your arts organization be successful given the environment?
This webinar will start with a look at the arts landscape in South Carolina. You will learn about board responsibilities, especially around accountability and compliance, and about "organizational health" criteria used by the S.C. Arts Commission to review, rate and fund grant applications.
This webinar may be particularly helpful if your board is:
- struggling to understand its roles and responsibilities
- unclear about how its S.C. Arts Commission operating support application is reviewed
- experiencing discord between board and staff
- seeking to improve advocacy efforts and relationships within the community
- looking for ideas on better governance
Presenter: Our guest presenter, Charles Weather of the Weathers Group, (www.weathersgroup.com) will share models and key principals of governance and provide tools and resources to help you achieve success.
