 May 2009
Wow, May is a busy month! I feel like I could attend an opening or a performance every night. My days are packed with finishing up the details for the Artists' Retreat at the end of the month. I am so excited by the folks who have registered for the retreat, many of whom have also offered to lead sessions and help in other ways. We are obviously already thinking as a community, and I cannot wait to see the new ideas that will emerge when we're all together. It's not too late to register, but YOU MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND! Give me a call at 803-734-8767 if you have questions.

You may notice above some space that was intentionally left blank. While we are lucky to have a close relationship with the national LINC program, it's time for us locals to coin a new name for this initiative, and maybe even a new logo! We're interested in your ideas for this. If you would like to suggest a name or simple logo for the work the S.C. Arts Commission has undertaken to directly benefit professional artists, drop us a line on the blog!

I hope to see you May 30-31 in Greenville, and to continue hearing from you regularly!

SCAC-endorsed business training to begin soon

The primary charge issued by artists to the S.C. Arts Commission when undertaking this initiative was to help y'all earn a living through your artistic practice. To this end, a major aspect of our programming is partnerships with providers of quality business and entrepreneurial training for artists. Offerings, which have been field-tested by some of your peers this spring, will begin this summer. Over the next several weeks we will be sending you more information about offerings in your area. Keep an eye on your inbox!
