Folklife and Traditional Arts opportunities
Applications for two major Folklife and Traditional Arts programs are due April 15.
The Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Initiative is designed to 1) help support master artists who seek to pass their artistic and cultural knowledge to qualified apprentices; 2) provide apprentices with an opportunity to advance their cultural and artistic knowledge in order to pursue the art form; and 3) document the work and instruction of the master artist.
Folklife and Traditional Arts grants support the promotion and preservation of the traditional arts, with priority given to projects that recognize S.C.'s traditional art forms and their practitioners. Funded projects may include traditional artists' presentations; the production, documentation or distribution of traditional arts; the acquisition of difficult-to-obtain materials; a cultural survey; or a conservation project.
