This Opportunity presented an extreme challenge to the Team. We knew nothing about our subject prior to meeting her this past Sunday. We only knew she had blond hair and that because of the production schedule we only had approximately 4 hrs to complete the transformation. 

Imagine our surprise when our subject arrived and we found out that she has been home bleaching her hair for the past 23 years and on top of that she was gluing tracks of hair extensions in. We were expecting bad but not this bad. This was probably 1 of the worst heads of hair we had seen in a long long long time and we knew right away that if we were going to do this job correctly 4 hours was not going to cut it. Adding to the stress of the extremely damaged hair and time constraints, we had cameras following us, filming our every move for a national TV audience to see!

The Spa85 team realized their potential this day. After Glory gave a minimal trim to remove the dead and split ends and provide an updated style, she and Ruthie tackled the color. The years of damage presented a difficult task. Not only did they have to be careful not to create any additional damage to her hair they also had to manage the color application correctly in order to prevent the color from turning to a mud color. It took deep conditioning treatments and many color processes in order to get the color just right. And right they got!

Unfortunately we cannot share more about the subject until the show airs in mid winter. But we wanted to discuss this event with you because of the importance of properly caring for your hair and having the right stylist that understands you and your style, as well as being educated in the proper techniques of color application. This woman stopped visiting salons long ago because the stylists she was seeing kept ignoring her. They only did what they wanted to do. And because proper techniques were not being used this woman risked losing most of her hair.

The tireless efforts of Ruthie, Casey, and Karen paid off  and we were able to give this person a beautiful color and style that made her look younger and healthier. Of course there was so much more we wanted to do but we simply ran out of time. This is a team of stylists that can take the worst and make it the best when it comes to hair and we couldn't be prouder of them! They truly are the best Stylists on Long Island.
