It always gets us excited to welcome new team members to our salon. Not only do we gain a new addition but we also get an opportunity to learn from them. 

Last month we welcomed Karen. She is doing great. Last week we welcomed Roxanne who has many years experience working in salons but wanted to make a change to a higher end salon that will provide her with a better education experience and allow her to grow her technical abilities. She said her previous salon was more concerned with how many people they could squeeze in and did not care how the client was cared for. And this week we welcome Valerie. She comes from a well established salon with 2 locations. She found us because her previous salon had become overrun with bad habits and unprofessional experiences. She felt she had no room for growth and was being held back by the senior stylists. Instead of being mentored and involved, she never got the opportunity to flourish. 

During a recent weekly meeting we had the opportunity to hear these experiences from our new stylists. They also shared with us why they chose Spa85. I couldn't help but to feel very proud of my current team to hear that our salon was sought after because of the reputation we have developed. One of my team members asked me how I felt our competitors were doing in this tough economy and if they were adding stylists (by the way that is a big difference than replacing stylists).

Competition is a funny thing. I have always said that competition is the best thing that can happen to our business. It makes you be the best you can be. If you don't your customers will find out that there are better options and leave. Even worse your employees will notice and leave as well. The other thing about competition is that there is the leader of the pack and those chasing the leader. I am always aware of our competition and what is going on around Spa85, but my focus is making my team the best they can be. And I couldn't be happier to know that our new stylists are going to add great contributions to our already fantastic team.

We will always try our best to fit you in but you will find it much more enjoyable knowing when your appointment is instead of being squeezed in at the last moment and feeling rushed.
