Recently we had a new client visit us for a haircut. After providing her with a thorough consultation it was very apparent (to us) that her regular colorist was providing her with can only be categorized as a chemical haircut. What this stylist has been doing is Hi-lighting over already hi-lighted hair. This process along with a regular regimen of flat ironing her hair is causing her hair to melt and break off.

 

You hair is fragile. Sometimes you can't just rush to the finish. If you decide to go blonde after being a brunette it might take several visits it might take only one depending on your hair history. If you are maintaining blonde hi-lights you can't just bleach your entire head without creating severe damage to those hair strands that have been already hi-lighted. If your stylist is rushing through the process or worse you are rushing your stylist because you don't have enough time to get things done correctly you will have undesirable results.

 

Make sure you are asking your stylist to prevent such damage to your hair. Also do your homework and don't just settle for poor results. The facts are simple. If you hi-light your hair you are going to notice a few broken strands of hair, it's going to happen and there is nothing we can do. But if you notice that your hair is melted and frizzed and does not feel healthy then it is time to speak to your stylist about it. If your regular stylist dismisses it like it's nothing speak to a different stylist for a second opinion. You'll be happy you did.
