Greetings!
It is true that a leopard cannot hide it's spots. |
You just can't pretend to be something that you are not.
I read an article this past week about a new luxury car being developed by Hyundai. Their marketing strategy is to go after Mercedes and Lexus and price the car at a $55,000 starting price. I think it is fantastic that Hyundai has achieved the success that they have achieved in the recent years. Their automobiles have gotten much better since My 1989 Excel that I paid $500 for in 1994.
I am sure that this car will be a beautiful car when it comes to market, but why would someone chose that car over the same priced same featured Mercedes or Lexus? A lot goes into the manufacturing of a car. Car manufacturers often discuss their automobile lineage. Who created the company, how their technology was developed over the years through the racing circuits, and a vision of what the company will bring in future models. It is this experience of the car manufacturer that allows them to set the standards that drive customers into their showrooms.
What does all of this have to do with hair salons and hair stylists? Everything! When I started my career fresh out of cosmetology school I did not know much. I did not have any clients and my first job was at a lemon tree. I did work for a few days at a very prestigious salon in Huntington where the owner charged $150 for his haircuts but he truly was an ass (pardon my language) and I could tell that I would not have the ability to grow as a stylist instead I would be an assistant for way too long and only be able to move up by moving out.
There are too many me too salons in the world. Too many salons that look at their neighbors and say "If that us what they are charging then that is what I am going to charge for my haircuts and my color". When Spa85 opened 5 years ago we set a goal to differentiate ourselves from the other neighboring salons. We achieved this by not hiring stylists from those salons, by selecting products that are a higher quality than those typically used in salons and by holding ourselves to a level of standards that we wanted to achieve and by not comparing ourselves to the competition.
We don't do a great job for our clients because we charge a little more than our competitors. Like the example of the Mercedes or the Lexus, we have created a standard of customer service that our clients have become accustomed to and our quality of service is backed by our commitment to advanced education.
You won't ever find Spa85 trying to be something we are not or trying to emulate other salons. We march to the beat of our own drum. We must be doing something correct because we grow by about 100 new clients each month and this past week Google notified us that Spa85 is one of the most searched local businesses. We appreciate all of our clients for allowing us to continually provide you with the ultimate salon Spa experience.
