You've been there. You take the same route home from work everyday and when you get into your driveway you quickly think "I don't even remember the drive and the way I took to get home". Well this class I just got back from woke me right up. If there was one big thing that I took away from this class is that colour is not absolute. 

 

So often in this industry, stylists get caught up in the same routine. The same haircut on every client, the same colour mixture over and over again. Like that drive home, they get into a routine that creates monotony in their clients looks. I hear the same thing over and over again from brand new clients, they come to Spa85 because they are tired of getting the same old same old from their current stylist/salon while their friends come home with stunning new looks everytime they leave Spa85.

 

If you look from afar at a field of beautiful red tulips, there is no doubt you will be mesmorized by the colour. But what you didn't see the first look is that up close the tulips are all not exactly the same colour. In fact there might even be a yellow or orange or purple one mixed in here and there. There are probably three or four different hues of red represented in the field. This is what natural colour really is and this is what being an artisan colourist is all about. This understanding of colour is what makes for spectacular colour results and why Spa85 clients often get stopped to find out where they get their hair done.

 

There is no such thing as absolutes in colour. Our hair changes and even though the colour formulation has a standard foundation, the true Artisan will recognize what needs to be changed and will understand how to apply better depth and vibrance through the manipulation of that original formula. I am so excited to apply this greater understanding of colour to my clients. If you liked your colour before, be prepared to get blown away! This is going to be a great summer of colour for you. PS I have already enrolled in the 2nd portion of this advanced class that is scheduled for August. You can never stop learning, my clients deserve it.

 

 

We had a great photo shoot at LI Pulse Magazine last week. I performed a minor makeover on our newest employe Sheri. Her hair needed a little repair from years of being over processed. You will love the before and afters. As soon as we get them we will post them on our facebook page.

Naila is back and she has increased her hours. Her new schedule will now include Tuesdays 10-5, Wednesdays 10 - 5, Thursdays 10-5 and Saturdays 10-5.
