5 years ago when we opened our doors there was not much going on in this lovely town of Bay Shore. Sure we had Milk and Sugar and Smokin Al's, but if you you thought of coming into Bay Shore for Valentines day plans people would have easily recommended other locations.

 

I am so excited about what has happened in our great town these past 5 years, that I have decided to forego our regular format and bring you up to date with all the great destinations to spend Valentines Day or any day regardless of the occasion.

 

I start off with our newest business that has everything to do with Valentines Day. Serious Chocolates. If you don't know where it is, It is located where Willy Nilly Too used to be. I am excited about Serious Chocolates because I love chocolate and Patrice, the owner, explained her passion for chocolate when I picked up a box for the salon this past Friday.

 

Patrice had an opportunity to live in Switzerland for 3 years. While there she developed a discerning palette for quality chocolates. She had a newfound passion for seeking out the finest of the confections available. After moving back to the states she noticed that although there were many places available to get chocolate she could not find the quality she was accustomed to in Switzerland.

 

By opening Serious Chocolate she is now able to share with all of us what quality chocolate is all about. Her vision is to offer delicious chocolates that won't break the bank but also won't sacrifice on quality. She has a wonderful assortment of chocolates by the pound or in unique gift packages that are customized for any special event. My personal favorite so far is the rocky road, and the dark chocolate cherries, and the truffles, and the chocolate covered oranges..... Ok they are all my favorite.

There blend of French and American cuisine is phenomenal. And the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic Valentines Day dinner. Not only to they have an amazing menu but they are experts at wine pairing. Their service is fantastic and I highly recommend the poached lobster when it is on the menu.

 

When Aji53 opened up 3 years ago there was no doubt that they would quickly become the destination for Asian fusion cuisine. One of my most favorite sushi restaurants, Aji53 never disappoints. They not only have a great menu but you feel like you stepped into a Manhattan hot spot when you walk in the door. The bar is one of the coolest around and they really know how to mix drinks. 

 

 

Lastly there is my all time favorite place to hang out with good friends and I always end up making new ones every time I go. Declan Quinns Pub located at 227 Fourth St, on the north side of the Bay Shore Train Station. Declan Quinns is a understated 4 star restaurant. Always accommodating to families of all sizes and a great place to end up after hours. The chefs have amazing talent and turn out great dishes night after night. My favorite is the Thursday night steak special. The best steak you are going to eat, along with 3 pints of selected beer and sides for only $21.95. Outrageous!
