Arvin Backs Initiative to Increase Air Monitors
June 19th the Arvin City Council voted to adopt a resolution "supporting the expansion of the network of air pollution monitors in the San Joaquin Valley to aid in protecting public health [and] reducing air pollution."

At the meeting Arvin Mayor Tim Tarver stated, "we didn't know five years ago that the air quality in Arvin was the worst [in the nation] until CRPE let us know."

This resolution is part of CRPE and CVAQ's campaign to "Stand for Clean Air In the San Joaquin Valley."

Justice Bus Brings Urban Lawyers to Rural Communities in Need
CRPE teamed up with OneJustice™, a group that increases access to legal help for underserved Californians, to host a Justice Bus® tour.  CRPE's Equal Justice Works Fellow Camille Pannu worked for nine months to pair fourteen volunteer attorneys with six San Joaquin Valley groups working on socially just and environmentally sustainable community/economic development programs.

The July 20th Justice Bus® trip was the first of its kind in the nation.  The attorneys who visited the Valley will help communities incorporate non-profits, draft lease agreements, and gain access to resources for essential infrastructure.  The trip will be highlighted at Equal Justice Works's Annual Gala on October 25th.  Read full story
