CRPE Seeks Luke Cole Memorial Fellow

We are now accepting applications from 2011 and 2012

law  school graduates for the inaugural Luke Cole Memorial Fellowship. Luke Cole co-founded CRPE in 1989 and led it until his death in 2009, training the next generation of environmental justice advocates along the way. The Fellowship was created to honor Luke's memory and institutionalize his pioneering work. Learn more about the fellowship and  how to apply on our website

The Bucket Brigade, Telling the Toxic Truth
Communities in the South Valley are tired of being ignored by the San Joaquin Valey Air Board and are taking action! CRPE joined forces with Global Community Monitor to give Arvin residents the tools to reveal the toxic truth about the air they breathe. On February 12th we took part in a training to prepare volunteers to patrol targeted local polluters and collect air samples...  full article

 

This Month at CRPE

-February 28th program assistant Valerie Gorospe spoke at UC Berkeley School of Law on the role of gender and race in the environmental justice movement.

  

- CRPE and community allies successfully persuaded Tulare Co. to apply for a $1 million grant to fund water and wastewater infrastructure improvements for Allensworth and Matheny Tract.

 

-February 29th CRPE helped facilitate a tour of the Valley for EPA's Jared Blumenfeld, head of the western region of the administration.
