What's New for June

June is always an extremely busy month here at Paha Qué. Summer is almost here, schools are letting out, and campgrounds are starting to book up for the season. Camping equipment sales are in full swing, as retailers expand their product assortments and campers start preparing for their upcoming trips. We are currently offering great deals to our newsletter subscribers, but you better move fast! Quantities are limited on our special offer items. Ranch Trails and Ghost Tales

A few weeks ago, my business partners and I went on our annual “Ghost Town” trip. This annual trip is so-named because the main objective has always been to research, locate and camp in some remote, rugged and historic location - usually a ghost town. Over the years, we have camped in some incredible sites, seen some amazing sights, and learned much about the real history of the West. And, we started a camping tent company somewhere along the way.

New Kinds of Camping

The President has declared that June is “Outdoor Month” but to me every month should be “Outdoor Month”. There are so many different types of camping that you could try something new every month.

Everyone has their favorite type of camping and is usually pretty well up to speed on the gear they need and time of year that is best for them. The only problem with that is that you have a tendency to miss the other places and types of camping. With the exception of clothing and bedding, most of your gear can be used all year round.
The cost of getting another bag or heavier jacket is usually not too bad so that cannot be an excuse.

Celestial Highlights, for June

This month, the Sun will swallow up both Mercury and Venus in its light, and zippy Mars crosses the border into Leo on its way to its encounter with Saturn. Will Mars pair up with Saturn in June? Just listen ....

Got an astronomy related question? Ask the navigator. Questions and answers will be posted here next month.

Care and Feeding of your Tent

Howdy, Happy Campers! Today, we’ll go over some important ways to keep your tent looking (and performing) like you bought it yesterday. Not only will you eliminate frustration from your camping experience, but you’ll also get rid of the annoying return process for unnecessary repairs.

Just a reminder, there's just a few days left in our big inventory clearance sale.

Dutch Oven Lamb Daube

This is a fairly "gourmet" type recipe and not for the first time cook. Each month we try different recipes for different skill levels. Camping should include all types of main meals, from chili to casseroles, to something elegant, like this:

Chef Jason’s World Famous Shrimp Skewers

This is an extremely easy and tasty snack to put together at the campsite. Shrimp is very easy to handle and keeps well if properly stored. And as always, this recipe can be adopted for home as well. The marinade here is what gets the 'high-fives'. Just remember to have enough for everybody because these go fast!
