Rogerson Communities' celebrated its 150th anniversary with a breakfast and discussion with a panel of experts, moderated by Dr. Timothy Johnson.  Dr. Suzanne Salamon, Dr. Kenneth Minaker, and James F. Seagle, Jr. shed some light on the Art and Science of Healthy Aging and recommend:

  • Taking a Vitmin D supplement for bones, muscle speed, strength and memory
  • Preventing strokes by controlling high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes, and quitting smoking if you haven't already
  • Upping daily water intake
  • Keeping informed of medical trends, and being your own advocate
  • Preventing a broken hip by strengthening bones and learning how to avoid falls
  • Continuing to strengthen social networks
  • Supplementing your diet with Folic Acid & Vitamin E: brain food
  • Volunteering in the community to stay active and involved
  • Actively rejecting negative expectations of aging

Thank you to all who attended, and very special thanks to State Street Corporation for   hosting this lively event. As we embark on the next 150 years of our work, we look forward to promoting healthy aging in its many forms to our residents, day program participants, and friends.
