Lifelong Learner
by Dr. Doug Talley
I love learning. Not so much learning for the sake of learning but to apply so that a difference is made - especially a Kingdom difference. When I was in my teens to early 20's, I couldn't wait to complete my schooling so that I could be done learning. I agree...very naïve. What I didn't realize then was that the moment a person quits learning, he or she regresses, decreases in effectiveness, and begins drying up inside. By the time I reached age 30, I had committed to being a life long learner. I think God is much more pleased with my learning disposition now as compared to those early years.
Indiana Ministries values lifelong learning for our pastors. That is one reason we periodically sponsor learning opportunities for pastors, staff, and even board members. In the last few years we've sponsored workshops on leadership development, assimilation, conflict management, emotional intelligence, as well as other topics. I hope you are taking advantage of these opportunities. Indiana Ministries covers a significant part of the cost of these events in order to make them affordable to those involved in ministry. Our goal is to offer high quality training events that are relevant and practical at a very affordable cost.

Crucial Conversations Workshop
Saturday, August 25
9:45am - 4:00pm
Location TBA (Indy Area)
Space is limited, register now!
Whenever you're not getting the results you're looking for, it's likely a "crucial conversation" that's keeping you stuck. A "crucial conversation" is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. These conversations (when handled poorly or ignored) lead to strained relationships, conflict and dismal results.
This one day seminar teaches basic skills for creating alignment and agreement by fostering open dialogue around emotional or risky topics-at all levels of your church/organization. By learning how to speak and be heard (and encouraging others to do the same), you'll surface the best ideas, make the best decisions, and then act with unity and commitment.
Outcomes of this seminar:
- Foster teamwork and better decision making
- Build acceptance rather than resistance
- Resolve individual and group disagreements
This workshop is taught by Scott and Leisa McDonald and is for church staffs and church boards. To read more about Scott & Leisa, click here.
Maximize the experience by bringing your entire team! Space is limited so register early to ensure space for your team.
Requirement: Read the Crucial Conversations book prior to attending the workshop. To purchase, click here
Cost: (includes lunch)
- Early Bird (register by Aug. 3): $39
- Regular Registration: $49
Online Registration Available. Visit our website for more information: www.indianaministries.org
