One of the areas I've been reading about in the last two years is emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is basically about developing the ability to recognize your own emotions and the emotions of other people AND managing them.  As you can imagine, this is critical in leadership, but it also applies to many other areas of life.  One of the reasons I've been focusing on EI is a desire to increase my emotional intelligence.  If I am going to maximize my stewardship of the person God created me to be, then I need to be as emotionally intelligent as possible.  Another reason is because I believe pastors tend to be weak in this area, and I want to create an environment and culture that encourages pastors to strive for excellence in the area of emotional intelligence.
