I write a lot in our e-newsletter about aspects related to leadership and making more and better disciples with an overemphasis on more.  Sometimes I fear some might think I only care about churches getting larger.  If I get that kind of feedback from people, I realize I haven't communicated well.  

The other day I was reflecting in my journal on why it is so important to me that churches make more and better disciples.  The first answer that came to mind is that making more and better is our assignment from Jesus, and I want to be obedient.  That is part of it but I don't think that is all that drives me.  I do want to be obedient, but I also need to see beyond the command to the why that drives it.  As I continued to write, three things surfaced that deeply motivate me:

1.    I want to see God glorified.

2.    I truly believe that the highest quality of life is found in living for Christ.

3.    The larger a church is, the more influence it can have in the community.
