Indiana Ministries Update

February 8, 2010 - Vol 2, Issue 3

Circle of Trust by Doug Talley
When it comes to behavioral profiles, I tend to be more task oriented than relational.  That's in my wiring, and I've come to accept that is how God has created me.  However, I value relationships and realize they are extremely important in my life.

guys talkingFor the last eight years or so I have been part of a group of six guys (all pastors) who meet at least annually for a retreat in which we process life together.  When the group first started, I knew one of the guys pretty well, three of the guys casually, and one not at all.  We have different personalities and our ministries look different.  We have different behavioral profiles, personalities, gifts, preferences, etc... but we share a common commitment to support and bring out the best in each other.

The group started because we were all nearing midlife and wanted to finish our lives and ministries well.  We'd heard too many stories of people in ministry who got knocked out in the last half of their ministry, and we wanted to guard against that.  So we made a commitment to help each other finish well.
