CONSCIOUS EATING WORKSHOP
Sunday, April 26, 2009
12:30 to 2:00 pm
Love offering - $15.00 suggested
Facilitated by Jessica Fish, RScP
Call or email to register or sign up in Sparks' Hall
We eat every day. Mindfully eating is a spiritual practice that's easy to integrate into your daily life, building awareness and the power of NOW.
In this workshop we begin with an introduction into the concept of mindfulness and how it applies to food, including when making choices about what foods we buy. We then dicuss how our bodies metabolize the food we eat based on our state of mind. We'll introduce the idea of eating for pleasure and energy.
We'll have a 30-minute guided meditation creating a conscious eating experience - getting settled in a quiet room where participants will be comfortable and with minimal disturbances or distractions. We're setting the stage for simplicity, focus, and acceptance.
Participants should bring creative stimulations to taste buds and mouth, remembering that we may or may not be eating an entire meal. Consider bringing water and/or tea, and/or a few tasty (or neutral) snacks, and/or nuts or even a simple meal ready to eat. Some of us may be eating the rest of lunch. Beverages can provide much of the same opportunity for meditation and learning.
This is experiential learning so we simply need to bring (all of) ourselves with attention, willingness, and a gentle, matter-0f-fact attitude. Notebook and pen are optional.
We finish with sharing/discussion/Q&A from the group - that's really where the enlightenment is - easier when undertaken with the fellowship of other like-minded people you meet at the Center for Spiritual Living - Granada Hills.
Be a part of a spiritual community that provides tools to transform your personal life!
