Kim Delozier, Supervisory Wildlife Biologist for Great
Smoky Mountains National Park, has recorded more
than 20 short podcasts about black bears in the
Smokies for GSMA.
The podcasts cover topics such as the natural history of
bears, bears and garbage, bears and people, and bear
bloopers.
You can find the podcasts on our website by clicking here.
Three introductory podcasts are available now. We will
be loading more of the podcasts in the near future!
Bear Bloopers will come last...but it will be worth the
wait. We have several hysterical true stories, for
example: (1) a sedated bear waking up unexpectedly in
an office at ranger headquarters and (2) a ranger
glancing in his rearview mirror while driving and seeing
the eyes of a bear who was sitting up in the backseat of
the car!
For a book filled with useful information about
encountering bears, may we recommend Living
with Bears: A Practical Guide to Bear Country" by

Children will love our best-selling The Troublesome
Cub. It's based on the true story of a cub who
climbed into a garbage can and got accidentally picked
up by a garbage truck and taken on a ride to the dump!
