  • Medical Executive Committee Summary
    • SGH is within its window period for the next Joint Commission survey. The members of the MEC are actively preparing for the medical staff leadership's meeting with the surveyors.

    • Medical staff members were invited to participate on the systemwide EMR Operations Committee that meets on the first and third Thursday mornings (and can be attended remotely). Interested physicians should call the Medical Staff Services office at 619-740-4145.

    • A recent survey of physicians indicates that the ED and the OR are the top two areas of concern re: cell phone coverage. Antennae and repeaters will be placed in those two areas.

    • SGH's response during the recent blackout was excellent. Special thanks to the hospitalists who stepped up to care for patients when their attending physicians could not be reached due to inconsistent phone coverage.

    • Approval for a one-year subscription to Up-to-Date software (medical reference) was given. It should be available in the near future.

  • Flu Shots!!!
  • The influenza vaccination program begins at Sharp Healthcare on September 26. LVN vaccine roamers will be available on the units for convenient vaccination. The roamers will be in the doctor's dining room from 12pm-1pm Monday through Friday from October 10 until the 28.

New this year, the Verification(attestation) or Declination forms will be on line at http://sharpnet/flu. All licensed independent practitioners are required to complete a Verification or Declination form unless you receive the vaccine from a Sharp LVN roamer or through Employee Occupational Health Department (EOHD).

For more information about the program visit the EOHD Flu site at http://sharpnet/flu or contact Erica Brown, EOHD supervisor and flu coordinator at 858-499-5262
