Medical Executive Committee Summary |
|
The following items were discussed at the June 14 MEC meeting:
- SGH has been redesignated as a Magnet facility demonstrating nursing excellence.
- SGH has finalized its application for the next Joint Commission survey and the window period for the survey will end on March 31, 2012.
- Interviews for the position of Director of Quality Improvement are ongoing.
- Members were reminded of the importance of confidentiality regarding peer review issues. Hallway discussions about cases that were presented in peer review supervisory settings are inappropriate.
- Proposed revisions to the Medical Staff Bylaws were discussed and a ballot has been sent to the members of the Active Staff. The proposed revisions relate to the medical staff dues structure and the updated 805 reporting requirements.
- The Nominating Committee presented three names for the position of MEC Member-at-Large 2012 and 2013 - Drs. Margaret Elizondo, Dimitri Sherev and Suman Sinha. Members of the Active Staff have been sent a notice of this slate of nominees. Ballots will be sent in October (after the period for potential additional nominations is completed).
- 350+ SGH leaders attended a one-day On-Stage leadership training.
- The City of La Mesa has approved their portion of the Diagnostic and Treatment Center and power plant projects.
- The parking lot behind the cafeteria will be shut down beginning July 1 in preparation for construction of the new power plant. Physician parking adjacent to the Women's Center will not be affected.
- The patient satisfaction survey results were reviewed and physicians were reminded to sit with their patients and even to take a nurse with them as they round.
- Physician handwashing compliance is slightly down - an opportunity for improvement.

SGH Medical Staff "Backpacks for Kids" |
|
ONLY 10 DAYS LEFT IN THIS PROJECT!
It's time for the 2011 Medical Staff Community Service Project sponsored by the Happiness Committee! This is your chance to make a difference by helping some special kids right here in La Mesa!
Here's how to help:
Either:
- Decide how many kids you'd like to help and pledge $50 for each - we'll do the shopping! (Email lesley.bradley@sharp.com and then make your check payable to SGH Medical Staff and send it to Medical Staff Services at SGH.)
Or...
- Decide how many kids you want to help and head for the store! Take your kids! Shop! Buy a backpack and fill it with supplies.
- Bring the backpack(s) to the main MD Lounge anytime before June 30. The backpacks will be moved to a secure location on a daily basis.
As of 6-21-11 100 backpacks have been purchased!
