Medical Executive Committee Summary - May |
|
- Reminder - Sharp Healthcare has agreed that "personal powerplans" will not be permitted in Cerner. However, approved order sets may be modified and saved as "Favorites."
- A medication reconciliation (ROMACC) must be completed in Cerner at the time of transfer/discharge. Paper reconciliation is not acceptable.
- Physicians must remember to review both the electronic and the paper record when following their patients - this will ensure that they have reviewed all of the notes from their colleagues.
- Construction on the new cath lab and the 64-slice CT will begin in June.
- There will be work on the "ring road" in preparation for the new power plant and the D&T center.
- An RFP has been issued to modernize the Women's Center and several architectural firms are currently preparing bids.
- Handwashing for the facility is at 88% overall - there has been a slight drop in compliance in recent months.
- On behalf of the medical staff, the MEC voted to pay one-half of the annual subscription fee for Up-to-Date Software (web-based medical research software that will be available on all computers).
- Beginning 1-1-12, all physicians who are members of supervisory committees and who review charts as a part of the peer review process will be eligible for reimbursement at the rate of $50 per chart.

A Message from William Friedel MD, Chair SGH Medical Staff Happines Committee |
|
The Happiness Committee has been asked to announce Comedy Night benefiting the Challenge Center. The Challenge Center works with physically disabled patients, providing free rehabilitative care to those with severe limitations, who are unable to afford this level of treatment. The rehabilitation department of Grossmont Hospital has worked with them for many years. This year the Challenge Center is excited to have master impressionist Rich Little perform. Several members of the Happiness Committee plan to attend this event and would love to have other members of the staff join them. The event will be held on Friday, September 9, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Tickets are $175 each. Please contact Lesley Bradley (740-4145 or lesley.bradley@sharp.com) or Bill Friedel if you're interested in supporting this worthy cause.
