2010 SGH Medical Staff Community Service Project |
|
Last summer SGH doctors (under the direction of the
Happiness Committee) helped some La Mesa kids
with
their first-day-of-school needs! This summer the SGH
medical staff plans to help
some special El Cajon kids - preschoolers with
special needs for adaptive learning
equipment at Sevick School! This project closes on
June 30!
We're made it easy for you to make a
pledge.
Use the "Donate" button in the email we sent on
5-27-10 to make your pledge by
Paypal or credit/debit
card - you choose the pledge amount! (Need help?
Call Lesley Bradley at 740-4145.) OR
Drop a check (or even old-fashioned cash) at
Medical
Staff Services (one floor above Medical Records),
OR
Even more old-fashioned, send a check
to
Medical Staff Services via snail mail.
We'll add your name to the plaque that will be
displayed at Sevick School and you can even come
and help make the presentation in August!
Just a few more details - we thought you'd be
interested!
Sevick Preschool is in the Cajon Valley Union School
District. Students receive specialized instruction for
learning disorders ranging from speech and language
impairments to autism spectrum disorders. The goal
is to provide a hands-on approach to ensure that each
student will reach his or her full potential. Teachers
and therapists work together to assist each student in
achieving the skills necessary to be part of a regular
classroom or in the least restricted educational
setting.
Your pledge can help to provide adaptive educational
equipment, i.e pressure vests (for calming purposes),
Bitty Bottom cushions (to increase attention),
MegaChewlery (to modulate need to bite and to
maintain attention), skin massager kits (to normalize
tactile processing), Hug Me Tank Tops (for self
regulation throughout the day), The Pea Pod Calmer
(for deep pressure during sensory breaks), pop beads
( for fine motor development), self-opening scissors
(for fine motor development), Yuke balls (for self
regulation), fitness donut (for self regulation), fish
tunnel(for sensory integration development) - and
there is so much more!
Special thanks to Dr. Robert Foster's wife,
Camille,
who's co-chairing this project. That's Camille in the
photo above!
