CSF-sponsored blood drive this Thursday; tomorrow is last day to sign up
The CSF/Red Cross blood drive will be held throughout the school day in the small gym on Thursday, September 29. Students ages 16 and older may donate.
 
If you want to donate blood:
  • Sign up in the Student Store at lunch until Wed., Sept 28 (no sign-ups the day of the blood drive). 
  • Students aged 16 must bring signed parental permission slip  when they sign up 
  • Students 17 or older must bring a photo ID

 Questions about donating blood? Check out the Red Cross website.  Please come donate; one pint of blood can save three people.   

Presentation on addictions & teens tomorrow 

You are invited to attend a presentation by Victor DeNoble, Ph.D., and noted researcher on the biology of addiction. Dr. DeNoble will discuss the extreme addictiveness of nicotine and other drugs most often used by teens today.

The presentation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 7:00-8:30pm at the MDUSD Willow Creek Training Center (1036 Mohr Lane, Concord).

Thursday is deadline for proof of Tdap vaccine
If you have not submitted proof of your child's Tdap (whooping cough) vaccine to College Park High School, the deadline is Thurs., September 29.

California state law requires that students in grades 7-12 have this vaccine to attend school. Students without proof of vaccine will not be allowed to attend school after September 29. Proof of vaccine can be turned in at the main office.

Turn in your CSF application by Friday
 Sophomores through seniors: don't forget to turn in your CSF application by this Friday, Sept. 30. Applications are available in the main office.  Please read the instructions carefully to see if you qualify.

Applications must be turned in to the school treasurer's office by Friday, Sept. 30 with the $5 membership dues and a copy of your grades (report card or transcript from Homelink).  This is a firm deadline. 

Please note:  Freshmen will be invited to apply in the spring with their high school grades earned during the current fall semester.

Interested in Eco-Tech Academy?
EcoTech Academy has a few openings in the sophomore and junior classes this year and we are ready to accept sign-ups for 2012-13. 

If you are interested in moving your student into the academy this year, please contact Paul Renaud at renaudp@mdusd.org or leave a message at x3225.

Fuel Your School
This year, throughout October, when anyone fuels up with 8 or more gallons at a participating Chevron or Texaco station, Chevron will donate $1, up to $1 million, to help fund projects for public schools in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

Join us for the United Mt. Diablo Athletic Foundation (UMDAF) Save Our Sports 5K Community Fun Run on
Sunday, October 9 at Newhall Park in Concord.

The event will feature three races: competitive timed, community fun run and kiddie race for ages 8 and under.

The College Park Athletic Boosters are giving the following prizes to the students who bring in the most sponsorship money for the race:
  • $200 for the student at CP with the most money earned in sponsorships.
  • 5 - $25.00 gift certificates to Sports Basement for the next 5 highest sponsorship earners.
  • A movie ticket to each student that brings in $100 or more in sponsorship money that has not earned a prize.
Registration and sponsorship forms are in the PE office. Please turn in your sponsorship money to our Athletic Director Lance Hurtado  or to Coach Keck no later than Friday, October 7.

Choir alumni wanted for Homecoming 

The CPHS Concert Choir will be singing the national anthem for the homecoming football game against Clayton Valley on Friday, Oct. 14.   

 

All past members of the choir are invited to join in. Alumni are asked to attend a quick run-through of the four-part arrangement of the anthem at 5:30pm in the choir room on October 14. Please spread the word to all choir alumni, and email Mr. Rockwell at rockwellb@mdusd.org if you are interested in participating. 

Very last day for senior pictures

Seniors! Monday, October 31 is the final and very last day to have your senior picture taken in order for it to be placed in the yearbook. Don't miss this deadline! 

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce field trip
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce "Narrowing the Gap" Education field trip will be held at Los Medanos College on Fri., November 4 this year.

There are only 19 spaces for 10th and 11th graders only. Applications are available in SSS Room #4 from Mrs. Shaw.

Do you have star power?
We're looking for hosts for the annual Talent Show--which is a big deal--that is held in February.

If you are funny, outgoing and like to entertain people, please see Mr. Rockwell in the choir room after school.
