Get your tickets for Saturday's football game at the Treasurer's Office today
Tickets for the Saturday game at DVC against Cal High will be on sale at the student store today (Fri., September 9) from 2:30 until 3:30. Save time waiting in line at the game and purchase your tickets then.

Mock SAT & ACT tomorrow

There will be a mock SAT and a mock ACT test tomorrow, Sat., September 10. Students should arrive at 8:45am, bringing pencils, a calculator and snacks. The test takes about 4 hours. Walk-ins are welcome; the cost is just $15.

The University of Oregon will be here on Mon., September 12 @ 1:15pm.

 

The Academy of Art will visit Thurs., September 19 @ 10:10am and North Park University (in Chicago) will be here on Thurs., September 19 @ 12:45pm.

 

Please pick up a pass from the Career Center and get your teacher's permission to attend.

Club Sign-up Day

Club Sign-up Day is Wed., September 14 during lunch in the quad. Come sign up to be in a CPHS club.  

Senior Parent Night
Senior Parent Night will be on Thurs., September 15 from 7:00-9:00pm in the multi-use room.

Proceeds support FPHE's Pleasant Hill public schools grant program. The 2010 Crescent Drive Restaurant Walk netted enough to provide six $1000 grants to PH schools.

To join, all you need to do is complete the PTSA membership form and drop it off in the school office along with your payment.

 

Why join?  The College Park PTSA is an active member of the College Park community, and we are dedicated to enhancing the educational and social experience of EVERY student at the school.

Don't forget to update your eScrip account to direct your donations to the College Park PTSA. Even if you have already designated College Park PTSA as your recipient, you need to renew your eScrip account each year to keep the donations from your Safeway shopping coming to CP.

 

We earned more than $5,000 through eScrip last year, and all of it was dedicated to improving your child's experience at College Park.

City of Pleasant Hill 50th Anniversary Writing Contest 

It's the City of Pleasant Hill's 50th anniversary and we are inviting students in Pleasant Hill schools grades 6-12 to participate in a writing contest! Here are the details.
 
Your City at 50-Past, Pleasant & Future
Your personal narrative/essay, up to 3 pages, typed, double-spaced may be about:
  • The Future of Pleasant Hill: What will Pleasant Hill look like in 50 years?
  • The Past of Pleasant Hill: Share a distinctive true tale which shows our town's character.
  • The Community of Pleasant Hill: What is unique about our city?

Back-to-School Night
Back to School Night will be on Thurs., September 22 from 6:30-8:30pm.
Save the date: Pleasant Hill Community Service Day is Sat., Sept. 24
CPHS will once again be participating in Pleasant Hill's Annual Community Service Day. There are many school improvement projects slated to take place that day including work in our organic garden, baseball field andASB leadership projects.

It's an all-day event and parents/students are encouraged to come for the day or just for an hour or two. Look for more information in the Falcon Flyer soon.
Seniors: get help with college applications

Seniors, take advantage of a fabulous opportunity to get valuable help with your college applications. We are offering two workshops, one on the essay and one on the application process.
 
In the essay workshop you will:
· learn what colleges are looking for in the essay

· discover great essay topipcs therough brainstorming exercises
· get insider tips for strengthening your writing skills
· start at least one essay and receive feedback on your topic choice
 
In the application workshop you will:
· learn how to strategically list your extra-curricular activities by completing the Activities and Awards section of both the Common App and the UC App
· edit descriptions of the of activities and service work to fit the application space while conveying all the key info you need to give the colleges
 
Where?   Career Center and S-6
When?   Wed., September 28 at 2:45 - approx 5:00pm
Cost?  $30 per session. College Park is partnering with Admit One College Advising. Please make checks payable to Sara Schroeder.
What if I want to do both?  Let Mrs. Welsh know - we will work something out if the numbers are there.

CSF applications due Fri., September 30 

Applications for the College Park chapter of the California Scholarship Federation are available in the Main Office. Fill out the application (please read the instructions!), attach a copy of your June 2011 report card and $5 dues, and turn it in to the Treasurer's Office.

Applications will not be accepted after Fri., September 30.

Make-up Picture Day/Staff Picture Day will be on Tues., October 4 in the MU from 8-1.

"On behalf of the entire 2010 Measure C team I wanted to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the extraordinary support, patience and understanding that everyone has extended to us as we work toward completion of the historic solar project under construction at your site. Your continuing cooperation and willingness to accommodate this project has served as an encouragement to each and every one of us on the Measure C team.

"While most of the actual construction work has been completed at your site, including the installation of the photovoltaic panels themselves, there are still activities and tasks which must be completed before your system is finally commissioned and power is connected to the PG&E grid. ... "
