Jackie and Mike WeddingPRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It is the end of another spectacular year for the Long Island Chapter.  It saddens me that the golf season is over - but hopefully the holidays will keep you busy and distracted.

I would like to thank Lynne Nordone and her committee for hosting a great Holiday and Volunteer Recognition Party at Westbury Manor.  As always, Lynne and her committee did a wonderful job.  The DJ was fun and boy do the EWGA ladies like to dance.  Thanks Patrice Franco for mentioning all the volunteers and what they did.  Bobbie Turner, great picture of the group - I hope you all saw it in the Holiday Message from the board. Thanks Liz Weber for leading the group in the not so traditional "Twelve Days of Christmas".

I also would like to welcome our new board members to the Board of Directors.  Maureen Mahoney is our new League Chair, Michele Chotkowski is our new Communications Chair and Theresa Oropallo is our Golf Education and Player Development Chair.  Please join me in wishing them much success working with their committees to offer the amazing support and programs our chapter offers.

Also I would like to congratulate Bobbie Turner, Janet Mallon, Liz Tobin and Patrice Franco for being recognized as finalists of the '2010 Women Who Lead Awards" that national runs every year.  They were nominated in different categories such as - Spirit - Change Agent - Golf Leagues and Making Connections.  They have made a significant impact on our chapter and we thank them for everything they have done and continue to do.

In closing, I wish all our members, sponsors, vendors and their families a Happy Holiday and a prosperous New Year!!

Jackie Meli-Rizzo
President, EWGA Long Island Chapter

A Night for Our Volunteers

Every committee volunteer in attendance was announced by Leadership Chair Patrice Franco and invited to come forward to receive their recognition gifts - a four piece coaster set decorated with the EWGALI Chapter logo.

What a Party - Let's Dance

Attendees enjoyed hors d'oeurves - passed and buffet, open bar, their choice of four entres for dinner and a dessert buffet before shaking their booty to music provided by musician and DJ Tommy Parris. EWGA Long Island members danced the night away demonstating they know how to have a good time.

An EWGALI Christmas Tradition

And it wouldn't be a Chapter Holiday affair without our very own Liz Weber leading the room in a rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas. Every year the group gets more inventive with their assigned performance stanzas.

We're getting better every year....

The night was enjoyed by all ... a testimony to the great comraderie and dedication of all our chapter volunteers. A special thanks to the social events committee members that contributed to night's festivities:  Gloria Bauer, Penny Berstein, Ginger Butler, JoAnne Cagen, Maddy Cangemie, Sandra James, Mary McPartland, Lynne Nordone, Vivian Zaffuto and Fran Zaslow.
