LEAGUE MESSAGE-March 2010
I know it's cold; you're dealing with shoveling and wearing layers and those rubber-soled boots are still a staple, but here are some warm thoughts because spring is just around the corner.
The date for our Tee-Off Dinner is scheduled for March 16th (that's next Tuesday) and the invitations have been sent, so make sure to RSVP today! Tee Off is your first opportunity to join League(s), along with an opportunity to rekindle friendships and find out about all the exciting events we have planned for you in 2010.
I still have many unclaimed trophies, which I will be bringing to the Tee-Off for distribution. Please contact me if you'd like to make arrangements to collect it prior to that.
We are pleased to offer 13 leagues for the LI Chapter this season and excited to announce the addition of an advanced Match Play League at Spring Lake Golf Course. This will be a "sister" league to our Nassau Match Play League at Harbor Links, also playing the back 9 on alternating Friday mornings. We have scheduled the two leagues to meet on different weeks, so those of you early birds who are interested in some friendly competition can play in both. Look for Patty Ellis & Roseann Bencivinni at the Tee Off -- Match Play League Table -- and they will be happy to answer all your questions.
The new security deposit procedure instituted last year was a resounding success. All greens fees for no shows/late cancellations were received and all members remain in good standing. SO, all returning members, make sure have your membership number handy when rejoining Leagues. You will now just pay the $60 administrative fee. For those of you joining us for the first time, in addition to the $60 administrative fee, a one-time fee of $50 entitles you to membership in an unlimited number ofleagues. This fee will roll over each year until you terminate your membership at which time you will receive a 100% refund if you have remained a member in good standing.
Please make sure to check the website for updated info on all league procedures. There will be a new league handbook posted shortly. New and returning members should be sure to familiarize themselves with all the rules and guidelines as there will be some changes.
Remember one very important thing- you must be a member of our national organization "EWGA" to participate in any of our events, leagues, etc. Now is the time to make sure you are up to date with your annual dues by going to www.ewga.com and contacting membership to either join or renew your membership.
I look forward to a great 2010 golf season. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
