Students Named Semifinalists in National Merit Program
Mansfield ISD joins with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in recognizing six students who have been awarded National Merit Semifinalist status. These Mansfield ISD students are among 16,000 academically talented seniors who have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 8,400 National Merit Scholarships worth over $36 million set to be awarded next spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
"I applaud these students for their individual efforts in achieving this academic honor," said Dr. Bob Morrison, Superintendent of Schools. "We are proud of each of them and wish them success in advancing in this prestigious scholarship program and beyond."
Congratulations, Semifinalists!

iPad Program: The High School iPad program for teachers and students is currently in the deployment phase. Devices have been distributed to students at Frontier HS, Lake Ridge HS, Mansfield HS, and Legacy HS. Next week, students at Timberview HS will start the process followed by Summit HS the following week. (As a reminder, Frontier was first to receive the devices because it is a smaller number of students and technicians used it to test the process. A random drawing by the high school principals determined the order of deployment for the other schools.)
