Will you or someone you know have a student entering Pre-K or Kindergarten next year?  

 

The Passport to Kindergarten event will take place this Saturday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

 

Please share this info with any families you know with incoming Kindergarten or Pre-K students for next year.

Mark your calendars with the 2012 high school graduation dates! 

 

All Mansfield ISD high school graduation ceremonies will be held at the new Center for the Performing Arts, located at 1110 West Debbie Lane, Mansfield, TX 76063. 

 

School Websites Get Makeovers 

Over 40 Mansfield ISD schooWebDesignl websites were completely redesigned to increase efficiency and support making them more timely and useful.

The overhaul of each campus website gives each school a clean and updated online look from designs that for some, were over five years old. Learn more.
 
Shining Star Award Nominations Open

The Communications Department is now accepting the nominations for the District's annual Shining Star Award recognizing exceptional non-teaching MISD staff members.

Nominations will be accepted until Friday, April 27, from anyone in the Mansfield ISD community.   
Student Recognition Spotlight

  

PTA Reflections Program
The MISD Council of PTA's selected 18 total entries from six different arts categories including, Visual Arts, Musical composition, Dance choreography, Film Production, Literature and Photography, to advance to the state level in the Reflections program. Of those 18 entries, eight entries were honored at the State level:
  

  • Visual Arts - Peyton Hall Award of Excellence; Pamela Ventura, Award of Excellence; and Caitlyn Moore, Honorable Mention 
  • Photography - Avery Lindsey, two Awards of Excellence; Audrey McReynolds, Award of Merit 
  • Dance Choreography - Maddie Molinar, Award of Excellence
  • Film Production - Avery Lindsey, Award of Merit  

 

Two students will advance to the National Level for their entries, Maddie Molinar and Peyton Hall. All students who placed at the Council level will be recognized on April 23, 7-8 PM, with a reception at the Great Room (Administrative Complex).   

 

Legacy Senior Qualifies for Junior Olympics

Shelbi Vaughan recently qualified for the Junior Olympics in the discus throwing event. Vaughan has also received a full scholarship to attend Texas A&M University to play volleyball and throw discus for their field team. Read more.

Summit Powerlifters Place High in State Meet 

 

Three Summit powerlifters advanced to the State meet on March 17 in Corpus Christi. Senior Victoria Clark ranked 5th, and the other lifters, Meagon Jones and Micaela Ikner, placed 8th and 11th, respectively. Read more.  

 

Mansfield Boys Soccer Advances in Playoffs 

 

The MHS Varsity Boys Soccer team beat Hebron 3-2 on April 10 at Mustang Stadium in Grapevine. The boys will journey to Midland for the fourth round of playoffs. Read more. 

 

Legacy Art Students Sweep TVAA   


On March 31, Legacy art students celebrated having 13 pieces selected as entries in the 2012 Texas Visual Arts Association High School Art Competition at the University of Texas at Dallas. Read more.
 


Legacy Academic UIL Places First at District
 

 

The UIL Academic tournament was held at South Grand Prairie High School on March 18. Congratulations to Legacy for winning first overall for the third year in a row, with a 54-point gap between second place, Midlothian. Read more.    

Odds & Ends


Mansfield Memorial 5K Run/Walk:  
Spread the word about the 2nd Annual Mansfield Memorial Chipped and Sanctioned 5K Run/Walk! The event will take place on Saturday, May 26, at Katherine Rose Memorial Park. More details.

Fort Worth, Texas magazine is looking for the top teachers in the area as nominated by students, parents, other teachers, school officials and anyone else who wishes to participate. Vote online here!

BBCTA Rising Stars Discovery Camp:  

This is a fun, exciting introduction to just a few of the unique courses offered at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy. Registration is open now through May 21, 2012. See the full details and registration form.

Frontier High School Registration Deadline:  

The deadline for applications for enrollment to Frontier High School is Friday, April 20. Visit the FHS home page to check out a video about the campus and access the online application.
