Mansfield ISD Parent Survey

As part of our educational improvement planning, Mansfield ISD Administration is conducting its annual survey to gain important feedback on how you rate your child's education.  

 

The survey is available in English and Spanish and will be online until Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. Take the survey here.  

New Start and End Times for 2012-13

After careful consideration and feedback from the community and staff, the Mansfield ISD will move to an eight-period day at the secondary level (for high school, middle school, intermediate school). To accommodate the new schedule, start and end times for the year 2012-13 have changed.  

 

Below are the new start and end times for schools on the eight-period schedule:

  • High Schools - 7:25 AM to 2:55 PM
  • Ben Barber Career Tech/Frontier HS - 7:00 AM - 2:40 PM
  • Middle Schools - 8:45 AM - 4:10 PM
  • Intermediate Schools - 8:30 AM - 3:55 PM
  • Elementary Schools - 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Passport to Kindergarten event on Saturday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

 

This event is an opportunity to complete your child's enrollment and registration process for the 2012-13 school year. Get the full details

Frontier High School Applications

 

FHSThe deadline for applications for enrollment to Frontier High School has been extended to April 20. Submit your online application here (disregard the original March 2 deadline listed).

Theatrical Design Students Head to State

Five students from Legacy and Mansfield High Schools who qualified to compete in the 2012 UIL Theatrical Design State Competition in May. Congratulations and best of luck to these students:

  • Thomas Kelly, Mansfield High School - Scenic Design 
  • Grace Anderson, Mansfield High School - Costume Design
  • Bethany Richards, Mansfield High School - Marketing Design
  • Bre Rodriguez, Legacy High School - Makeup Design
  • Brenda Moreno, Legacy High School - Makeup Design   

DECA Students Advance to Internationals  


The Ben Barber Career Tech Academy DECA chapter competed in the State Competition, held in Corpus Christi, March 1 - 3, 2012. A record number of forty-nine students from five MISD high schools participated in the competition including 13 first-place winners who will advance to the International competition. Read more

  

Summit UIL to Compete in Regional Meet

 

The Summit UIL Academic Team competed in the district meet on March 21 - 22 at Joshua High School. Several students will advance to the UIL Academic Regional Meet held in Abilene on April 21. Read more.

 
Destination ImagiNation Team Awards  

 

Mansfield ISD was represented at the Greater Fort Worth (GFW) Regional Destination ImagiNation tournament by 13 teams. Several teams earned medals and two teams will represent MISD at the state competition in Corpus Christi, April 13 - 15. Congratulations to The Digits from Mary Lillard Intermediate School and Makin' Toast from Danny Jones Middle School. Read more.   

 

Mansfield High School Student Wins at National Animation Competition

 

Senior Madison Samas won third place in a national animation competition held by the Student Television Network. Samas' winning entry was titled, "Whistlewing," and she has been developing the animated series since September. Read more. Our apologies for incorrectly reporting Samas as a Summit High School student in our last issue of the Messenger.      

Odds & Ends

  

Texas Trust wants YOUR Spirit : 
Mansfield ISD and Texas Trust Credit Union are having a design contest to create the next Texas Trust/MISD Debit MasterCards. If you are an MISD high school student, and you've got an idea for a card design - enter and you could win $250. The winning designs go into production as Texas Trust MasterCard debit cards - to be used at stores and restaurants all over town or anywhere MasterCard debit cards are accepted. The deadline to submit the design is this Friday, March 30. More details.

Miracle League of DFW:  
Registration is now open for players in the Miracle League of DFW. This organization invites children with disabilities to play baseball at the youth baseball complex in Arlington. Learn more.

Looking for Top Teachers:  
Fort Worth, Texas magazine is looking for the top teachers in the area as nominated by students, parents, other teachers, school officials and anyone else who wishes to participate. Learn more.   

MISD Education Foundation T-Shirts:  
Don't lose out while the "Grant Patrol" is out. If you get caught wearing your T you might just get something for free. Learn more. 

FFA to Host Fundraiser Night:  
The Mansfield FFA invites you to attend the spaghetti dinner and pie auction fundraiser night on April 5, at 7:00 p.m. Check out the invitation.

BBCTA Rising Stars Discovery Camp:  

This is a fun, exciting introduction to just a few of the unique courses offered at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy. Registration is open now through May 21, 2012. See the full details and registration form.
