Timberview High Mourns Death of Coach

 

McCartyThe Mansfield ISD administration is sad to report that on Sunday, October 16, 2011, Cody McCarty, from Mansfield Timberview High School died. McCarty was the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach for the Timberview varsity football team.

 

In addition to coaching duties, Cody McCarty was an assistant baseball coach and a physical education teacher at the campus.

Grief counselors were made available at Timberview on Monday, October 17 for students needing assistance.

 

Our thoughts and prayers are with McCarty's family during this time.

A Memorial Service was held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 20 at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.  

McCarty Family Fundraiser - On Friday, October 21, from 6:00 PM to midnight, Timberview will have a fundraiser for the McCarty family at CiCi's Pizza located at 5904 Cooper Street in Arlington. The fundraiser will be $8 per person, $3 of which will be donated to the family.  

Attendance Zone Planning and Update

The Lake Ridge High School Attendance Zone process will begin on November, 10, 2011. View complete schedule.

 

We are looking for members of the MISD community who are interested in volunteering to help in the process of redrawing the high school attendance zone boundaries in preparation for the opening of Lake Ridge High School in the fall of 2012. 

 

Please complete the online form if you would like to be considered for the attendance zone review committee.

Bond Election Early Voting Set to Begin2011Bond

 

Registered voters who live within Mansfield ISD may vote early at one of the designated locations. 

 

There will be eight Temporary Branch Early Voting locations at MISD campuses for your convenience.

The Diamond Ball: Last Chance to RSVP

 

GalaThe Diamond Ball, presented by the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation, will take place on Saturday, October 29, at 6:30 PM at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth.

Miles for Meredith
5K/1K Fun Run

 

WHERE: Mansfield High School

DATE: November 19, 2011 

TIME: 8:00 AM (1 MILE FUN RUN) and 8:30 AM (5K)

STUDENT ENTRY FEE: $10
STAFF/PARENT FEE: $15
(Includes entry fee, race t-shirt, and post-race meal)

 

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is sponsoring the Miles for Meredith Race again this year with their "MAD DASH FOR CASH" incentive. MMMC will award the schools with the highest percentage of student participation. The 1st Place school will receive $1,250.00, the 2nd Place school will receive $750.00, and the 3rd Place school will receive $500.00. (Only students are included in the numbers toward MMMC's cash incentive.)

Student Testing Update: New state testing begins this school year with the implementation of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR. The standardized testing program includes new assessments for students in grades 3-12. Learn more.

Pink Fest 2011:
Walking for a Legacy Saturday, November 5th 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Read more. All monies raised will benefit Moncrief Cancer Resources.

October is breast cancer awareness month. Check out the Pink Glove Dance video from our friends over at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

Mansfield ISD Trustee Participates in Leadership Program

Beth Light, trustee from Mansfield ISD joined 35 other school board members from across Texas on September 30-October 2 at the kickoff session of the Leadership TASB class of 2012. Read more.

Congratulations Bands: Summit High School marching band advances to the UIL Marching Band 4A Area Competition on October 29. (Legacy, Mansfield and Timberview received Division 1 ratings at the contest but are in 5A which does not advance this year.) 

College & Career Night will be hosted at Legacy High School on Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Seminars will be held to help students prepare for the ACT/SAT tests and learn about college financial aid. See the flyer. High school students and their parents are highly encouraged to attend this event.
